Yes?** A: If the problem is that you're plugging your phone into your car to charge, and your phone is detecting your car as an "audio out", then it is at least *possible* that this may solve your problem. But even some devices can detect that "something is plugged in" even if the data port is blocked. A better solution is to figure out how to change the audio device on your phone. If it's android, you can select "charge only" when plugging into USB. Ultimately, even if this device doesn't solve your problem, it's still helpful to have as a security device. **Q: does this actually block data from being sucked from your iphone and/or from data/virus being inserted into iphone? does it also chagre?** A: That's what it's supposed to do, yes. I bought it to be able to charge an old iphone from a VW Jetta USB port that was not compatible with the phone and it works fine for that. As far as I can see, it basically passes through the 5v connections and has no data connections so there would be no way a virus could be passed through it or data could be "sucked" out. Of course it also means you can't download photos or sync your phone or anything like that - all it does is let you charge. So, basically, it turns a computer USB port into a non-smart charger. That also means it charges slowly at 0.5A whatever the port or charger rating, because higher charge rates are negotiated between charger and phone, which requires data. **Q: Does this work with iPhone 8 and 11?** A: Yes.
