## Description

2014 release from the violinist, dancer, performance artist, and composer. Shatter Me follows on the heels of her self-titled debut album, which has sold over 300,000 albums and over 1.1 million singles. Stirling has also toured in the U.S. and Europe, selling out the majority of shows...

Review: Alot of vinyls here - I like Lindsay Stirling music and feel calm listening too it without feeling bored. Alot of singing on this one then the first album. I still like the first album alot. Here she is exploring her talents with other artist. Which is cool.
Review: Sophomore Album "Shatters" Expectations - I found Lindsey Stirling through Pandora radio and then started subscribing to her YouTube channel. As great as her covers are of modern pop/electronica songs--I'm thinking of her collaboration-cover with Pentatonix "Radioactive" and another cover "Thrift Store" in particular--and of more "geeky" songs--check out her Star Wars & Zelda medleys, as well as her Skyrim and Halo covers--her original stuff can simply not be beat. I was expecting more of her violin to feature, like in her first album, but boy, does she break all of my preconceived notions of what Lindsey could deliver in this sophomore album--and that's saying something! Her execution is technically excellent, with lots of syncopated rhythms and double stops, and always energetic (but never rushed). This album, more so than her debut self-titled release, leans more toward a modern dubstep/electronica feeling. And--even better!--she's collaborated with two FANTASTIC vocalists for songs with lyrics. So now, we can not only bob our heads to the music, we can sing along. The titular track, "Shatter Me," is a one of these, and the lyrics resonate deeply with anyone struggling to reconcile self-imposed limitations and restrictions with the desire to do more and see more and be more than you ever imagined. The bridge, especially, illustrates this struggle: "If I break the glass, then I'll have to fly / There's nobody to catch me if I take a dive / I'm scared of changing, the days stay the same..." As a new professional with a sister about to step out of college for the first time, these words in particular stick with me. The other song with lyrics, "We Are Giants," follows a similar theme, and appropriately comes after "Shatter Me." The latter is all about breaking out; the former is about what you could be once you do so. I prefer "Shatter Me" to "We Are Giants," but they're both great songs, especially when you consider that this is Lindsey's first time writing lyrics. Lindsey Stirling's music is breathtaking, every bit as inspirational as the woman herself. I'll be listening to her album on repeat for quite a while. I bought the album for my sister, but I'm so glad I get to keep the digital copy for myself!
