Seiko Men's SKX175 Stainless Steel Automatic Dive Watch

The Seiko Skx is iconic! It might not be the most expensive mechanical watch, but it will give you reliability and quality. More, it also offer entry to many like me to the amazing world of mechanical watches. It has its drawbacks: the accuracy is not great, it is not hacking(stoping seconds when you adjust hours), no hand-winding. But it doesn't matter, because it is SKX. The watch is incredible at its price point and so recognizable by many watch enthusiasts. It is not comparable to the Rolex Submariner, but I would say it is the ultimate diver watch for everyone. Nobody should tell you that your watch is not cool or you should be look down because of it. It has its charm and its original design. I bought it as college student who loves watches and have limited money. I worn it every single day and swam with it. Every time when I looked at the Skx, it bring me back to the memory lane and how cool it was on my wrist for first time. After 5 years of owning the watch, I love it and it will always be in my collection.

Iconic Timepiece this is a extremely famous watch. It comes in two colors. The red and blue as shown coined the Pepsi and the all black. One thing to note is there is a lot of confusion about this watch as well. Let me clear that up. There is 2 versions of the watch.The skx175 is the US version of the 009 these are the exact same watch it's the same watch it's a important to the USThe skx173 is the same as the 007 now it is worth mentioning that the 007 & 009 have a J version this J version is a Japanese version that can not be found in the US these versions are made in Japan. They go for twice the these watches. It's said that the Japanese are among the highest quality version you can buy. One thing to be noted is not all skx are created equally. The mass production of these watches causes inconsistencies in quality.The very first one I got had some quality issues. So I had to return it. However the very next one I got was perfect. The US version has higher quality control similar to the Japanese version.If you are interested in getting this watch for cheaper go with it on a rubber strap. The watch band is very easily changed. Most people wear it on a NATO anyway or prefer a different band.My impression I did not want to post immediately after buying it I want some months to really take it in. This watch changed my life. It started me on a roller coaster of being a watch enthusiast. I am a student so this watch was not cheap for me. (I do have a job). I struggled between getting the black dial version or the Pepsi I opted for the Pepsi to spice up my life. The picture does not give it justice at all. The colors are more of a navy blue and bright red. The thing about it is. The lighting can change the blue to look black at certain angles. Nice effect. It's not a really a watch that yells expensive it's a subtle thing. Great for in public. The watch of many faces you can dress it down dress it up. Swim and Dive. It's ISO certified. If your thinking about getting it just do it. One thing to note is the prices fluctuate a lot. Sometimes the 007 & 009 the international version of this skx basically have cheaper prices than the US version sometimes the US version is cheaper than the international version. So just look out for it. The big deal breaker comes in with the warranty the US version the warranty is only good in the US the 007 & 009 and including the J you would lose your warranty for the US. Not that it matters to much since these watches can go 20 years with no service. Something to consider. I was extremely nervous and fragile with the watch but it's indestructible. Feel asleep in it. Got shoved into a wall I fell on ceramic floor in a store because a kid was playing on a isle and did not see it was going to fall on him so I moved him out the way then it fell. The watch and I made it out fine. Also for some reason my hand was not use to a watch on it and doors kept hitting my hand.I love this watch.

I bought this watch for $180 ten years ago via Amazon. I was drawn to the idea of self-winding mechanical gadgetry because I was tired of "quartz" -- a sensible electronic solution, but poorly packaged in most wristwatches. I was tired of what I now realize are costume jewelry type flashy watches by clothing brand names that looked stylish but the metal would quickly corrode; or after the battery was replaced, the whole thing would leak water, never to work properly again. Another $150-$200 flushed down the drain every 2-3 years? To quote the raven, "Nevermore!"This a fantastic watch for a practicing emergency physician. It is salt-water resistant, soap-water resistant, and Ebola-resistant. It has a second hand, for those of us docs that still examine the patient instead of letting the EMR tell us what tests need to be ordered. The watch still looks relatively new after 10 years of windsurfing, snowboarding, sailing, scuba diving, hiking, climbing, etc. I even ran into another clinician with the exact same watch, except he bought his in the 1970s! Before Amazon, before the Internets, before everything really ... What did people even do back then that needed a wristwatch? Anyway, he had it factory serviced ONCE a few years ago, and it's still ticking. Looks just like mine!Quirks: mine gains approximately 40 seconds every day, annoyed me at first because once a week I'd have to readjust it to "global network standard time" provided by my mobile phone. I've grown used to this quirk as a testament to its precision (not accuracy, precision): it gains exactly the same amount every day, every week, every month, every year, regardless of temperature, tides, climate change, Earth's magnetic field shifts, gravitational fluctuations, altitude, oxygen tension, solar flares, etc. My explanation: the watch is actually correct, it's just so dense (nice heft and weight) that it bends local space-time a little more ... Maybe. Keep in mind that just the mismatch between solar DAY and YEAR alone means that even a "perfect" timekeeper has to be adjusted at least once a year, and let's not get started on leap years :)Another negative: Must agree that the band (Jubilee-style) -- although rugged and will not unclasp under stress -- does have a few weaknesses: the thin metal plates covering the pins and the first sets of links are too malleable. Got it readjusted a couple of times over the years, but it keeps happening -- I'm considering replacing the band with a different manufacturer's, but I'm a slow and lazy type.

Es una chulada, llevaba tiempo buscándolo y no podría estar más contento; su máquina es bastante precisa (+/- 3 seg. al día) y adoro el extensible (los conocedores lo consideran "barato" pero a mi me parece súper cómodo y me encanta). Las manecillas, el fechador, el dial, su luminosidad y el bisel giratorio, todo excelente, es un reloj resistente y muy bien fabricado.

A very attractive watch that does not keep time. Bought it for my son as a gift, he loves it but it runs slow by about 15 minutes a week when worn constantly. Not at all what I experienced from the Seiko automatic diver my dad bought me in the 70s (which my son is now wearing). Waste of money, quoted $200 by a jeweller to service.

Essentially a skx009, this watch could be had for a cheaper price. However, it's nice to have the Seiko warranty, so I'm not too put off by the extra cost. As for the watch itself, i have no complaints. The quality and the design are great. Many people complain about the bracelet, which I do find a bit flimsy, but i don't think it's a big issue.Overall, i'm very satisfied with this purchase.

The watch arrived earlier than expected, in its box . I returned it because the watch was getting -5 to -15 minutes per day since day 1, it's probably a manufacturing issue. Other than that the watch was perfectly fine
