I'm very happy about the size. It's much larger than I expected

I’m an OT and I got this to add to my bucket at school. Great quality and I plan in using it with tweezer and Perler beads and have kids trace with wood stylus, fill in with beads, then write the letter. A few letters have minor font differences- such as curve at end of lower case t- but I may fill that in with putty to change.

We have a child with low muscle tone who has been struggling with writing. This is better than the notebooks for tracing because these letters are much bigger and the wooden “pencil” stays in the grove.

Very good materials. I like the hand grip feature. I purchased for my 3.5 granddaughter. She has fun with the board.

I ended up using a little paint and light stain to offset the traceable letters and seal the wood. After that it was great.

I had one of these when I was a kid and I loved playing with it, so I'm thrilled to find out they are still produced by this company! We are strong believers in the Montessori system and we do our best to exercise that as much as is realistically possible in the 21st century real world. This little writing pad provides true tactile feedback that's better for learning retention than a tablet can provide, and classic learning toys like these never go obsolete - they can be passed from child to child and make excellent hand me downs.Strong wooden tablet has no cracks or splits, no rough areas where splinters are a concern and pen is fairly strongly attached, though my youngest one is definitely giving that a real test on the daily, so we will see if it stays attached long. The wells for digits and letters are all very deep and well formed with no errors. You just don't see quality toys like this every day anymore and it's refreshing to find well made wooden toys to keep my children in touch with the natural world that surrounds them rather than the digital world that beckons them. I absolutely anticipate keeping this for many years and hopefully passing it onto my grandkids someday! Recommended for sure.

I like these kinds of boards- and that on this one board is uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and different lines is awesome. It is bigger than others, and is more unwieldy for my 2 1/2 year old but he’ll grow into it. I normally like wood but prefer my silicone one as there are no sharp edges or rough seams where the wood was glued together. I like that there is a hole and string for the ‘pen’ and the board to keep them connected. It comes with two. You could keep them separate but I’ve tied a ‘pen’ to each side of the string on either side of the board. The ‘pens’ come with special pencil grips for proper writing posture in pink and blue but they can be taken off while keeping the ‘pen’ attached to the board if you want to use a different grip or no grip at all. I will say the characters seem a little big- especially the numbers- it’s good practice in one sense but they are WAY bigger than you would almost ever want your kiddo to write.As for the cards it comes with… I’m not sure how well that will work. The idea seems sound but will require more maturity than my kiddo has. Even if that part is a complete bust when the time comes the board is more than worth it.
