If the shoe fits - these are a great value
IMO Shoes should be assessed on build quality, materials, appearance and fit. The first two are objective, the latter two are obviously not. These boots meet my standards and needs as to all four, especially at this price point - although I have inserted a pair of Dr. Scholl's insoles to fine tune the fit.I would prefer Vibram soles because (based on my past experience) the original soles will wear to smoothness in a season or two which, in mud, can be dangerous; they are useless on ice. However the welt permits resoling and I can make my own choice if necessary. Also, there is a small leather loop fob at the rear top of each boot, presumably to help pull them on - often needed for boots. However these loops are too small to put a finger through or to grip firmly so they are largely aesthetic. Golden Fox could fix this for a few pennies. For me the appeal of these boots outweighs these shortcomings.I have had Golden Fox shoes before and found them well built, durable, waterproof, good looking and comfortable - particularly after a few days of break in. I have been looking for a decent and affordable boot without success for quite a while; Amazon has graciously accepted a good many returns which did not fit the bill. But I am very satisfied to keep (and wear) these boots and, if they perform as I hope, to resole them in the future. Having said all of that if the fit is not right for you, no quality, materials or style will make up for it. Consequently note that free returns of Golden Fox shoes is not always offered. Be aware.A possible downside to these boots is that, consistent with the substantial materials and solid construction, they are relatively heavy. I wear a size 13 and each size 13 boot, with laces, weighs about 33 oz.

Soft and comfortable
I normally wear 91/2 or 10 in most shoes or boots. I ended up with a size 9 and it is a perfect fit in both length and width. They seem heavy when you pick them up but they are not heavy on the foot. The Kaki suede is very handsome and with two coats of suede protection they still look new after several wearings in rain and snow. These are very well made and highly functional and comfortable. The crepe sole is a classic touch. Exceptional value.

Solid comfortable boot. Would buy again.
I would give these 5 Stars if they weren't somewhat damaged right out of the box. Half inch razor blade cut on the side of the ankle that didn't go all the way through and a little too many scuffs for my liking on a brand new boot. But....Pretty damn good boots! Full leather Construction and very comfortable right out of the box. After my first day wearing them today for at least 10+ miles (I'm a building engineer in New York City I do a lot of walking) I have no complaints at all. The bottoms are grippy even though they don't really have a heavy tread and they stiched it on with a "Goodyear welt" which is pretty much what you want in a boot. I was actually surprised to see a Goodyear welt on a boot this inexpensive, it's harder to manufacture and it takes a few steps but you end up with a better boot. Not a bad looking boot either, until I destroy them I'll be able to wear them out on the town as well as to work. My only complaint was that they had a few scuffs and what looked like a small razor blade cut on the outside right ankle. Considering I'm probably going to do as much damage to them in a week I can't really complain about that but if you're buying these boots for fashion I could see that being a problem, hence the four stars. I would order these again in a heartbeat though if they stay around the same price and hold up over time. I wear boots pretty often so keep an eye on the date of this review, if they're no good theyll fall apart quickly and I'll update the review. No news is good news in this case.As far as the size, a few reviews recommend ordering a half size down. I did this and although they are snug they aren't too tight. A full leather construction boot is also going to stretch a little bit and end up being more comfortable in my opinion. It's close enough to be a personal preference and not so much a problem but I think most people would be fine ordering your usual size, unless you also like a snug boot of course. If you have a really wide foot you might want to look for another boot all together, they are a touch on the slim side but so is my foot.

17 month review...they held up great!
I have been using these boots for about 17 months at my place of employment as a finish carpenter, 7 hours a day, 5 days a week. The sole is starting to look like it needs replacement and the leather is plenty scuffed but boy did these boots hold up and still going strong. They are still comfortable and I will be taking the home this week to resole them with a vibram 2021 sole. Will also clean, condition and wax them for winter. I have definitely got my money's worth. Absolutely a bargain for the price. I have lots of boots at several times the price of these boots and they are also very well made but I like these boots because it won't bother me if I spill paint on them. They are my beautiful beater boots, a great value for a tough boot.

Just buy them, they are worth every penny
They look great and feel great, amazing for the price. Also, look for reviews on youtube, the goodyear welt is legit. They are comfortable and you won’t feel like you have to break them in. The laces also feel of high quality and look pretty good in person.Pictures don’t do justice for these. They look better in person. Before I received them I worried that they’d look too wide and goth like as Neo in the lobby matrix scene (I got the black boots) but no, they don’t look like goth/motorcycle boots. They look good with jeans and with casual clothes in general. If you wonder about quality, look up rose anvil golden fox on youtube, the dude chops them in half to see how they’re made and is surprised at the good quality, he reviews the moctoe but it’s pretty much the same boot.Look person, I know why you’re thinking of buying these boots. You dream of the origins but they’re too expensive, you went to youtube and everyone there mentions Thursday boots, you saw that those are 200 and you said hell naw. Just buy these. They’re quality leather, real goodyear welt, pig skin collar, they have a fluffy pad for foot arch and they have a steel shank.

So far, so good
I've only had these boots for a couple of days. So I may add to this review once i've had more time with them.1. These boots took a week to arrive because they came from US Amazon. (I'm in Canada). However, The Thursday Boots I ordered a while back were delivered the next day. Both are American boot companies.2. The build quality is fabulous - especially for the price. Stitches all line up. No loose threads. Impressive.3. They did't fit perfectly. Not the boot's fault though. They were a tad loose. However, that was easily fixed by inserting an insole. Now they fit perfectly.4. So comfortable. Virtually no break in. And the soles are very quiet.5. My only real complaint is that there are no speed hooks. So putting them on and takin them off takes time. I'll take these to my local cobbler and get speed hooks installed. All in all, for the price, these are great boots. Quality of the leather, construction, fit - just great.

These do NOT have a crepe sole as advertised.
These boots are fantastic for the money and I am pretty happy with the purchase, HOWEVER, they do not have crepe soles as advertised. Instead they have a more standard hard rubber sole with a molded crepe-like texture. They do not have the softness or spring of a true crepe sole. I don't know if that is dishonest marketing or just an error but it has marred an otherwise happy transaction.
