FlexrakeMM01 Classic Moisture Meter

Wish it came with some basic parameters. But it works very well and helps me to not under and over water my plants. I'm so glad I have it. You dont realize how often you are wrong about whether your potted plants need water or not until you try this thing!

This was recommended by an ethical and helpful Amazon seller of Myer Lemon trees and we use it to properly gauge the water retention for our indoor tree here in Maine. (it is outdoors for almost 3 months)This particular tree needs careful monitoring because too much watering, often the bane of highly conscientious tree owners, will harm it. This meter takes the guess work out and allows us to not only test the soil in general, but with the length, we are able to test it near the surface, and lower down to the roots. There is often a marked difference between moisture levels within only a few inches of soil.Do not leave this in the soil, as it will rust and break down. It is meant to be used only as a tester, not a monitor. This too, was the advice of the kind people of the Citrus Trees, who's counsel has been as invaluable as their warranty. We now use this to test our backyard garden, as well as our indoor plants.

Don't you wish plants could tell you what they need when they need it? I love this tool because it takes the guess work out of watering my zillion plants which makes us all very happy.I always had easy to care for plants and got in a routine that worked for all of us. I recently added more plant babies and turns out, they all have different water requirements. I accidentally began over or underwatering and it showed. Thankfully, the order has been restored and everything is perfectly watered.

Had this meter for almost a year and then went belly up. Good thing I checked it out before over watering everything. No battery to replace so I guess you toss it and buy a different brand. Should last more than a year.

Works great so I know when my trees need water.

It was a toss up between 4 and 5 stars. I actually love it more than I like it so 5 stars it is. It shows the soil moisture almost immediately upon insertion and really doesn't vary much between the different areas of a smaller perennial that one might test. I've been watching for a meter like this and the reviews were consistently good so I bought it. And I'm glad I did!
