Benjamin Bear Returns
Benjamin Bear, the title character of the BENJAMIN BEAR IN FUZZY THINKING (which was nominated for an Eisner Award) created by French artist Philippe Coudray, is back in BENJAMIN BEAR IN BRIGHT IDEAS! Each page of the book is a comic that involves Benjamin. His friend Rabbit has returned and there a few newer recurring characters, too. Benjamin might not be a role model, but he is a character that kids will love. The theme of the book is thinking outside of the box. Some of the ideas are clever and some are unusual, but foolish (and sometimes funny). My two favorite strips in the book are when Benjamin decides to visit his friend goldfish at his house in the water and when rabbit draws a picture of Benjamin on a tree. BENJAMIN BEAR IN BRIGHT IDEAS! is a short, but entertaining book filled with simple and enduring illustrations. Recommended for kids in kindergarten – 3rd grades.

creative thinking outside the box
Reviewed by AveryInside this book it says that this author's books are often used in the schools in France. I have never heard of Benjamin Bear before but I can see how kids in school could use these books to learn to read. Benjamin Bear is a bear who is very smart. This book is like reading short comic strips with Benjamin Bear and other woodland animals. His comics use creative thinking outside the box which not only make the short comics funny, but make you think, which is good because so much of what we learn doesn't make us really think on our own."It's impossible to make something out of nothing."I have read this book so many times since getting it and it never gets less funny. I only wish it had been like quadruple the size because it really is a great book and so much fun to read. I think kids of all ages will also get a lot of laughs when they read this book. It's simple, colorful, and very entertaining. I would recommend buying this book.*This book was provided in exchange for an honest review* *You can view the original review at Musing with Crayolakym and San Francisco & Sacramento City Book Review

Absurd in the best way
Each page is one cartoon, with a visual gag playing off the short dialogue. It’s more like reading cartoons in the newspaper than reading a story. Go slow with younger children, because they’ll need time to process the visuals and combine them with the wordplay. Once they start to catch on, it’s a lot of fun.Unfortunately, the next volume we read, Benjamin Bear in Fuzzy Thinking, contains some pages where one character hurts another on purpose to make the joke work. A big departure from this one, and no thanks.

I Love Toon Books
Adorable French style drawings are so appealing they make you want to read this cute little book. Each page is a single comic incident involving Benjamin Bear and his sidekick bunny. They play games and explore their world together, nothing big and meaningful happens yet each page simply shows how two friends have fun and what you can discover in this big old world. Pretty much every one of the pages gave me a chuckle, kids will certainly get a kick out of Benjamin. I just wish there had been some story instead of all just one page gags. Otherwise a delight.
