Gleanings: stories from the Arc of a Scythe

With so many perspectives, it gave me an overview of the Scythe world. Finished it in one go, absolutely unbelievable

The stories were of sufficient length and depth that I felt satisfied with each. They were easy to get into and many of them were unexpected insights with wit, drama and deadish happenings.The Thunderhead is a favourite character for me, so all things that being fascinated me and I think I'd have liked a full story about them. Trixie the dog had me in agog stitches. Other stories were more serious and I appreciated that too.These stories were mostly Neal Shusterman but a few were collaborations with other authors but they all felt to have the same narrative voice. I do hope this isn't the end of this world and that we'll get future bits and pieces.Thank you to Walker Books for the review copy.

The best way to wrap up the series.

The Arc of the Scythe trilogy is a fantastic young adult series that brings a new view of life and death, both entertaining and thought-provoking. It really is a requirement to read these 3 books before picking up the Gleanings.The three books in the trilogy; Scythe, Thunderhead, and The Toll officially end the series, but the Gleanings adds a variety of short stories that dive into parallel stories and new characters. All the 12 short stories are written by Neal Shusterman but some are co-written with others.Thou Shalt Kill. This is the commandment for the Scythes who are obliged to glean in order to curb the population which no longer dies from natural causes. Gleanings is at the heart of this anthology collection.I enjoyed reading this when I had spare moments to fill.

I absolutely love this Universe, so a collection of short stories featuring some familiar and some new characters is exactly what I needed. Each one is written with the usual style and flair, and I've been inspired to reread the main series again as a result!

I absolutely loved this book as well as the three that came before it. A fascinating world that I thoroughly enjoyed exploring. This book had a great mix stories with entirely new characters as well as stories from that followed the characters from the original trilogy.

Als ich die Hauptstory durch hatte ist dieses Buch gerade in den Vorverkauf gegangen.Vorbestellt, später dann erhalten und mit hohen Erwartungen gelesen.Mein Fazit: Es wird den Erwartungen gerecht!Man bekommt interessante Einblicke in manche Hintergründe der Hauptstory und der Autor hat sich zusätzlich unterhaltsame Geschichten ausgedacht mit komplett neuen Charakteren.Besonders gut finde ich, dass manche Sachverhalte aus der Hauptstory erklärt werden.Ich kann es auf jeden Fall empfehlen!

So glad to be back in this world again. These stories are filling me with so much emotion.
