Factor 55SPLICER 3/8-1/2" Synthetic Rope Splice-ON Shackle Mount - RED

I’ll be honest! I have never owned a synthetic roped winch till I bought a Smittybilt X2O for this FJ. I just always used the hook that came on the wire rope. I’ve seen folks with the synthetic lines and winch shackle and thought, “Damn that looks easy and safer”!So outfitting my newly purchased FJ I figured what the hell!I was VERY hesitant about cutting the factory hook off and splicing the synthetic line myself. I watched YouTube videos and it didn’t look hard. (I did break down an order the Factor 55 Fast Fid before I spliced it)I finally worked up the nerve and glad I did. Yes, like with anything else, splicing synthetic rope has a learning curve. After you do it you realize how easy and important it is to learn the process.I’ve used the Factor 55 Splicer a few times already. (I really need to look into a “Jeep Recovery Vehicle” sticker🤣) I’ve been surprised at how well the finish hold up to shackle hooked to it. All in all, it’s a much safer, good looking way to winch

Easy to install.

This thing is awesome. Installation was a breeze and it looks great. My only complaint was that it didnt come with the rubber base. I returned it and tried ordering it again thinking it was just a mis package. When the second one arrived sans rubber base I contacted Factor55 directly to ask them if it was in fact supposed to come with one and if not how would I order one. Their response was yes it was, send me your address so we can get one to you and if you need any more you can find it on our website. This is why I gave 5 stars even though I had the issue with the rubber base. In my opinion stuff happens and when it does the true test of a company is how they handle it and Factor55 stepped up. I will be buying more gear from Factor55 in the future.

For the money this thing looks great, the quality is top notch and it keep all the rope spooled. You'll probably need to get the fast fid in addition to this. I got that tool and taught my self to splice this on.

After ordering my winch i wanted to do exactly the opposite of most other Jeepers and that is... “Keep the winch concealed”! As a part of that thought process i wanted something small that could be butted up to the fairlead instead of draping rope/hooks over to the frame or a D-Ring.. this fit the bill perfectly!! You do have to splice your winch rope but it is not a hard process!! In fact i created my own “needle” out of a coat hanger i had laying around!!

Great so far. Arrived quickly. Easy to install. I used same splice technique that SmittyBuilt put my factory hook on with. I highly recommend the red one. . .it looks like my Jeep is sticking its tongue out at everyone!Seriously, this is fantastic as it will now allow use of a very secure shackle instead of a hook, and it also pulls up flush against my synth rope fairlead without damaging the smooth inside surface that the rope lays against.

Orange one is powder coated not anodized, and the markings are a sticker not laser etched (because of the powder coating). Verified with F55 this is a real product. Install was easy with their fid tool.
