In my opinion try a different one.
The media could not be loaded. We've had the 14" for 5 weeks at this point. We used distilled water, soap, and it looks nice.My take:-Pretty quiet and nice to look atHorrible design: (2 star)-The water jet is way to forceful, when the jellyfish move they rocket up to the top, often upside down.-The water intake is too small/water flow is too strong allowing it to suck the jellyfish in and get them stuck to the bottom for a while.-The jet stops and starts for seconds letting them look lifeless at times.-I would have liked more control over the LED brightness only 2 settings and the low isn't as low as i'd like for a night light. My Child's take (its theirs): (4 star)-they are super cute (so we didn't return it)My SO's take: (4 star)-"I like looking at them"-"That doesn't bother me" (regarding the jet issues)-its too bright for what we want while putting child to bedComparison:We had tried a different brand of jellyfish lamp, it didn't have brightness control and was waaay too bright, but the jellyfish moved much more naturally and didn't get stuck on the bottom. I don't know if the one I got is defective or this is by design.

Mesmerizing
The media could not be loaded. I always wanted a lava lamp, but this is better. I love turning it on in the evening and watching the "jelly fish" swim around.

Distilled water is a MUST
I can be stubborn. I used tap water and thought I'd gotten the air bubbles out. Well, the air bubbles they mean are those tiny minut pin head size bubbles. Thats were the distilled water comes in at. Distilled water is not just boiled tap water either. The process of distilling involves vaporizing and catching the vapors etc, etc, the oxygen in the water which causes the bubbles has been eliminated in the process. Buy it at the store its cheep too. Then there is the dish soap. The soap color makes no difference in water, you won't see it. I believe this is added because the jelly fish can stick together. The soap coats the "jelly" allowing them to swim next to each other without connecting. All the wonderful effects of a tank without the work. I highly recommend this product.Again, must use distlled water!

The fish float
I love the different colors, nice ambiance. What drives me nuts is every time I turn to look at it, it seems like one or both of the fish is floating at the surface. I'll mix it around to get the bubbles out, put more water in, etc but it still happens at least every 5 minutes, and it just happened again in the time I started writing this review.

Good when your high
Bought this for a gift. When I go over to their house I see it on the table. Real trippy when your high.
