Review: Excellent features for tea lovers, easy to use, good looks, clever. - Summary - Likes: Not too tall: easy to maneuver under overhead kitchen cabinets; Good temperature control: for specialty teas, comes up to precise temp gently, doesn't overshoot; Preset temperature modes AND manual adjust; Easy to program using the twiddle-and-push knob; All controls and display are in the base: there's more space than in the handle, so it's easy to read and control, also keeps heat away from electronics; Nicely fitting inner and outer lids; Memory feature: remembers what it was doing (e.g .keep warm) when kettle lifted off base and returned (but see description below); Gentle, polite "ping" that can even be muted, though it's so unoffensive you won't need to; Easy to pour, no drip; Glass kettle: easy to see contents; Easy to use (one button) keep warm feature; Packaging: if you like that sort of thing, the packaging of this product is very glamorous, you'll be happy you chose it before you even plug it in. Summary - Dislikes: Tea infuser attachment doesn't fit well, and is only useful for brewing pot-fulls of tea; that's it! Summary - Things to be aware of (not necessarily bad, depending on your needs, but you should consider prior to purchase): 1200W heater, not 1700W like the big-boys; but it's well fast enough for brewing a pot of tea. If the time it takes to boil is too long for you, you won't have time to enjoy a cup of tea anyway! No scale filter: you may need to descale frequently, but that is easy and fast (see notes); Memory feature returns kettle to previous heating mode when replaced onto base - be careful if you return an empty kettle to the base! To shut the kettle off, simply hold down the twiddle-button for three seconds, and it will shut off. Detailed discussion: I purchased this kettle early in December, and as two of my family members were ill with Covid and flu at that time, I made A LOT of tea for them with it for over a month. It rose to the task magnificently, and I loved it almost immediately, especially appreciating the accurate temperature control and keep warm features. Note that for the "less than boiling" temperature modes, the kettle heats to close to the set temperature, then goes into a slow mode, bringing the water up to the precise temperature gently, so as not to overshoot: very clever! As it's a glass kettle, you can see the quantity of water easily. You can ALSO see the scale build up. All kettles accumulate scale, of course: it's a function of the calcium hardness in the water separating out when the water is heated, and the kettle cannot avoid doing so. It's a glass kettle, so from a design perspective, there's no practical way of supporting a mesh filter in the spout, so it doesn't have one. If you pour heated water directly from the kettle into a mug, you'll get scale too, if there's any in the bottom. You'd really want to avoid chewing bits of calcium scale with you tea, so descale early and often! In its early, busy period, I had to (chose to) descale mine every three days; however, I discovered how easy and fast it was to do so: half a litre (two cups) water , quarter liter (one cup) vinegar, set it to green tea (don't even need to boil), and turn it on. It was done within a couple of minutes: you can literally watch the scale disappear - very entertaining! Really, make it a point of doing it frequently, and you'll find it fast and easy, and rewarding. The infuser is the weakest feature of the whole product: it's soft metal, and has to be attached to the underside of the inner lid. Being English, I brew primarily real English-style black tea (PG Tips), and only into a tea pot (English style black tea into a mug or in a multi-purpose kettle like this one is a bad mistake you only make once!), so I don't use the infuser. If you use it, and especially if you make black tea, you'll need to remove the inner lid, rinse the infuser under cold water (so you don't hurt yourself!), remove it, then replace the inner lid. The kettle has a memory feature - not to be confused with keep-warm, so if you lift it off the base, then return it within a few minutes, it goes back to what you were doing before. That can be a bad thing if you lift if before it reaches programmed temperature, or if it's in keep-warm mode, and you drain the kettle, then put it back: it will try to heat empty, and while it's "officially" boil-dry protected, remember that it's already hot, so it will overheat really quickly. You don't want to do that, safety shut-off or not. Once my wife recovered from Covid, and flu, she started using the kettle herself, and she immediately liked it, and complimented me for making yet another good choice, after our new induction range and coffee pot... I'm on a roll, and might eventually even be forgiven for buying the "wrong" dishwasher ;-) All in all, I strongly recommend this excellent product, and would happily buy it again, or another, if the need arose.
Review: Must Have! - Update 2026: Now four years from purchase and still works perfectly! I still believe it is worth the price, and is still used the same amount as before. Great product! Update: After two years this kettle still works perfectly. This gets used at least once a day everyday, and absolutely no issues. We use almost all the preset options with no problems. Considering it's only a LITTLE bit more expensive than the kettles that just boil, this is very much worth the money. We have never had an issue with it not shutting off when it was supposed to. If anything we have to turn it on again because we will sometimes just forget we turned it on lol. So considering how much this has been used and works the exact same as day one - just buy it if you are considering it. Everyone in the family uses it. First Review: Honestly, we just got this kettle in this morning and used it immediately. I absolutely love the presets. I do love how you can customize the temperature too instead of using the presets. That is a major plus (haven't done this yet but did play with it). This thing heats up FAST! We filled it to the max line this morning so everyone (myself, husband, and two kids) could all have tea. It heated the water to the 212 in 7min. This is sooooooo nice. The kids took theirs to school in their thermos they usually use for water. Since it is starting to be chilly outside, it was something nice to keep them warm. The keep warm function does not work on the 205 or 212 temperature setting for safety (it states this in the manual). I was a little bumped at first but quickly got over that. It would make sense not to leave boiling water just sitting on the counter for hours at a time. Besides, with how quickly this heats up it's not an issue at all. I also really like how the ml to cups with lines on the kettle. It just makes trying to guess the amount of water I need less annoying since all my coffee cups are different sizes and shapes (I collect mugs). This is very easy to take a part and put together. Since it has a wider opening at the top it does make for easier cleaning, especially of you don't have some kind of wand. Others I have seen that have the smaller opening at the top would require that cleaning wand, but it is nice to know I can just put my hand in the pot to clean it. I really enjoy the tea chart that shows the different temperatures for each tea. That is now on the fridge for easy consulting. I am very happy with this purchase and glad we purchased the protection plan for it as well. This is going to get a LOT of use in our house. I will update in a couple months after consistent use.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: There are spots on the bottom, how to clean it?**
A: There are two types of stains that can appear on your kettle: tea stains and mineral buildup. To remove tea stains, use a sodium percarbonate-based descaler. To remove mineral buildup, use a citrus-based descaler.

**Q: How to deal with EEEE on the display?**
A: It is the warning of Dry-boil, there is not enough water in the kettle, please fill in cold water and restart the kettle.

**Q: Is the kettle body made of glass or plastic?**
A: It is made of borosilicate glass, not plastic, you can burn the kettle body with fire to test if it is plastic, and using a knife to cut on the surface, no scratch will left. Children Must Not Try For Safety Concerns.

**Q: Why my kettle heats water to 212°F, but the water temp is lower actually, is the kettle temperature control inaccurate?**
A: In areas of higher altitude, water boils at a lower temp. eg. at an altitude of 20,000 ft, water can be heated to a maximum temp of 176°F. When the set temp can't be reached, the kettle will change the temp to end boiling in case of causing dangers.

**Q: The Start button light remains on, how to turn it off?**
A: The Start/Cancel button light is a reminder of being powered. To turn it off, please do not press the button for 3 seconds, it will be turned off when the kettle is turned on, no operation snf not working for 10 minutes

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ New kitchen staple
*by B***N on October 9, 2022*

I ordered this because I like green tea. I like hot brewed, then chilled green tea. I didn't really have a tea pot to call my own, so I was just using a sauce pan to boil water, like momma used to make. It was pretty inefficient, plus had the added benefit of cracking a glass pitcher when I forgot my basic high school physics. When I ordered this, it was a whim, I think I had enough points on my credit card to get it for free, so I figured I'd give it a go. Since then it's been set up on my kitchen counter and used frequently. The read out is very easy to read, and the controls are quite intuitive and well labeled. For those of you who, like me, enjoy something but they don't really know the ins and outs of making it, there are a number of handy setting to set the temp to recommended levels for whatever type of beverage you're steeping. Push the button, wait for the water to heat (quicker than a stove top), then put your favorite leafy items in the handy hole in the lid and cap it off to let it steep. You can even set it to hold warm for you, if you prefer your hot beverages... well, hot. The infuser is removable from the lid, so if you just want to heat up some water, you can do that too. It also has a handy chart to tell those of us tea duffers how much leaf to use for the amount of water (which can be seen by looking at the very distinct volume markers on the pitcher. I gave this thing 5 stars, because I do think it's a great product, but dinged it on the easy to clean. The pitcher has a lot of electronics on it. It looks like the heating element is built in. Because of this, they recommend that you don't submerge it to clean it, which means basically wiping out the pitcher, and occasionally running it through the recommended descaling process. The infuser basket is basically a metal tube with holes in it, which gets the job done, but because of the size, it can be a bit of a struggle to get all of the particulates out of it. Being detachable helps though. Overall though, this thing does what it says it does, does it well, and is very convenient to have around. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a countertop water heater and leaf steeper.
