Pure escapism
This story and characters pulled me in from the first chapter. I just wanted to keep finding out more. Such a clever plot, full of mystery, intrigue, poets, murder, hatred and ultimately, love.Such wonderful descriptions of the characters and the setting. I was left wanting more..... (hint)

Had me right from the first line!
I loved the Manor House. It had me right from the first line, with wonderfully vivid characters and a sense of mystery that permeated the whole book.Exploring themes of poetry, tarot cards and death, the book takes two women in different timelines on adventures that focus on a Cornish poet and the mystery that surrounded him.I really enjoyed the rich characters, the gritty family tension, and the resonance between the two timelines, which kept me guessing all the way through.I also loved the esoteric angle, with a ouiji board, tarot cards and a character who sees auras. This all added to the mystery and increased the synergy between the two different time periods. The Manor House was a great read that pulled me in and kept me turning the pages. I will definitely be looking for more books in this genre from Jane Holland.

A book well worth reading
I loved this book, living in the area it was a book I could relate too, The characters were well described so you could get to like them, the duel time kept me wanting to read on, the story held me from the beginning to the end, each time I thought I’d sorted out what happened, it twisted, but in a sensible way, I’m a fussy reader, I like good grammar , good spelling and good research, this book fitted all of my needs. Will be reading more by this author.

More like a Victorian melodrama!
I'm not sure how this novel could rate as a bestseller in 'Christian Living' since it involved dabbling in Ouija boards and Tarot cards, not to mention several murders and also a father who was obviously a member of some pseudo-Christian religious cult.I found the jumps back and forth from the 1960s to present day made the story very disjointed , and had to keep reminding myself that that family in the early scenes were actually in the 1960s and not the Victorian period, as they seemed more like Victorian melodrama characters.Sorry, this simply did not work for me, especially as the eventual resolution of the story was far too contrived.
