Had to use a blow torch to open the container.
I think that my can was a return - maybe returnee attempted and failed to use. The can was rather dented too. The contents were all over the inside of the lid. My hubby and myself failed to open it. My son took that as a challange and opened it using a blow torch. To melt it I needed to used an almost boiling water bath and it took quite awhile and never fully melted. I wore latex gloves and used a paint stirrer to apply it to my Japanese Maple tree. I used the entire can. Then I wrapped my tree in tree wrap and sprayed the tree with Malathian to kill the bugs that are taking up residence under the bark. I removed the loose bark first.

Still the best!
Sticky as can be, use gloves. Still the best there is! Best wound sealer for woody plants too. No tar or petrolium.

The stickiest substance on earth?
I am not an experienced grafter. I cannot rate the effectiveness of this product over long term use, or compare it to others... but wow, is this grafting wax sticky! I think it's the human equivalent of fly paper glue. Stuck right to my little grafted trees, got moderately harder after a couple of days. Not hard to use, other than being sticky, stretchy and gooey. I recommend wearing disposable gloves, it's not easy to get off of your hands. Plus is that it is pretty easy to avoid spilling or smearing onto most other surfaces.

Grafting wax
The application of this wax did not suffice at the pruning area.

Works fine.
It works and it was much easier to apply than I was led to believe after reading other reviews. It's the only brand I have used so I withheld the 5th star Because I cannot compare it.
