Quality Upholstery Product for the Amateur Upholsterer
I use Dritz Upholstery Tack Strip on a weekly basis and have used well over a dozen rolls in my small upholstery shop.. This product is consistently good quality and works great for concealing staples where you don't want them visible. I would recommend this product for anyone interested in doing there old upholstery. I use it specifically for making custom cornices but imagine it would work great on furniture and other upholstery pieces as well.

Very convenient... does the job!
This roll of tack strip came in quite handy, as I reupholstered a 100+ year old family heirloom. I could have cut my own cardboard strips, but given the quantity needed, I'm so glad I bought this instead! I was able to notch and go around corners without any problems.

Interesting Thread
Just finished a large upholstery job with this thread. I loved the way it went through the needle hole, without bending or balking. Got the job done in one pass - a real delight each time it needed re-threading. But occasionally the machine would get clogged with knots, and then it was a chore to undo all the mess of thread. Not sure why, but occasionally the thread would delaminate (for want of a better word). It would unpredictably just cast off its outer layer, which would bunch up on the thin cord that was left, and that would get jammed up in the machine. For all the reasons that might have happened, I never found out why: sharp spot on the needle, weakness in the thread, or any other reason...... I have to say that the convenience and strength of the thread outweighed the occasional inconvenience of the problem, so I re-ordered the same thread to finish the job. But the problem happened with the second batch as well. Would I use the thread for another job? Yes!

This stuff is AMAZING!! I can't believe I was going to try my project without it...it would have certainly ripped apart already! Plus, this is less than 1/2 the price of the brick and mortar. What?!?! That's crazy!

Went on really easily. Here's a tip.
I had no trouble bending the strip around the edges of the chair seat so only had to stop when I got to the other end. I didn't like the background brass (between the tacks) and found the color to be too light, so I lightly glazed the entire strip with a dark walnut stain, let it dry a minute or two, and then blotted off some from the tops of the tacks, so that the background material is now dark and recedes and the tops of the tacks are a little lighter making them look naturally aged. A very nice effect.

Don’t buy it.
I bought the same brand in 2020 and it was great. This time, the cardboard layers separated when I unrolled it, making it pucker when I laid it flat. Too bad. Dritz is a good brand.

Quality has changed
I purchased this tack strip in April of 2018 and it was fabulous. The tack strip was solid, smooth and it rolled without creasing. The same item that I received in October of 2018 is rougher and feels thinner, and it creases every time that I roll it it. This is a much poorer quality that the first one that I received. I have even recommended this product and now even I don't like it! But I don't know what would be a better choice. If anyone has any other brand to recommend, please do so.
