Fun for kids and adults
This is an updated entertaining version of the Little Red Hen and appeals to young and old.Set in a residential area with neighbors close-by, the little red hen sets out to make a pizza with or without the help of her neighborhood friends. When frustrated with their lack of interest, she responds with "Cluck" and continues with her goal. The ending is sweeter than the original story. I gave it to children ranging from 2 1/2 to 6 and they all enjoyed it, along with their parents.

My students loved it!
We are in a fairytale unit where we read different versions of classic fairytales and then vote on our favorites. I particularly love when the characters in the book turn it around at the end and make it better. This is an adorable and engaging variation of the Little Red Hen. I will be adding it to my unit from now in!

Great version of the little red hen
We read this first at the library, and my son kept talking about it, so we bought a copy for home. This is a very cute retelling of the story of the little red hen. In this version, she makes pizza. Instead of refusing to share at the end because nobody had helped her, she does share the pizza with her three friends, who then in turn help with the washing up. Positive message, and fun illustrations done in a collage style.

I read this book to my preschool class during our "planting a pizza garden" unit. The kids loved reading along to this updated classic!

Modern Twist on a Classic Story
This modern Little Red Hen story is fun, captivating and makes the point about being a helper. For all the little helpers, or should be helpers, in your life!

My Daughter's Favorite Book
My daughter is 11 and this is still one of her favorite books. I just bought it in hardcover to give to her for her birthday, since apparently she is going to love it forever. The first sentence my daughter ever read (age four) was in this book, I found out years later. The sentence was, "Not I, said the cat."If the original story of the Little Red Hen bugs you because the lazy animals are motivated by punishment rather than reward, you will like this book much better. In this version the Little Ren Hen still gets no help in the production phase, but she shares the fruits of her labor anyway. Her grateful friends then clean up for her while she rests. Both my two daughters and I adore the illustrations in The Little Red Hen Makes a Pizza. They are made by cutting and gluing various papers. I have looked at them of over 10 years, and I still always find something new to admire. I have looked for other books illustrated with cut paper by this same illustrator but have not found any, which is a true loss to the world of children's books.I'm a kindergarten teacher and I have to read The Little Red Hen as part of our Teamwork unit. I always read The Little Red Hen Makes a Pizza afterward, and my students always like it better than the original because all the animals are treated well.I hope you and your family will enjoy your copy of The Little Red Hen Makes a Pizza. You cannot go wrong with this book. It's great!

and a fun read aloud for my students
Received book as new but arrived damaged. Spine bent and folded making it difficult to turn pages. Front and back cover arrived folded and bent as well. Cute story though, and a fun read aloud for my students!
