I started to read this book just to get a feel for the writing style and I simply could not put it down. I kept reading each spare moment I had until it was done! Nelson's daily revelations were, at the least, inspiring. In each day's quote I found something useful to me although I am not a recovering addict. Some of the stories were frankly hard to read but I kept going, always hoping that this person succeeded! It was almost crushing when I had to read about those who had slipped and were struggling. It sure is an eye opener to the world of addiction! It is a glimpse into the unimaginable experiences suffered by those trapped by addiction and their will to survive as they are in recovery!Kudos to everyone who contributed and especially to Nelson for the creative layout! This book does not lecture about addiction and recovery like others on the market. Instead it welcomes you into people's lives and grants you the opportunity to hear their real experiences and share in their struggle! It is a must read for everyone because we are all touched by addiction/depression in one way or another! Read it, you will not be disappointed!

I feel it is a book for people with these addictions. This is a hard hitting book and very depressing to read page after page. The stories are so sad and the outcomes for the people who succeeded in rehab should have been more in the book. The sadness and hopelessness dragged me down. I thought it was a story of the journey of the author with some successful outcomes along the way. I was disappointed.

This book is a riveting read. The reader has absolutely NO doubt that these people and experiences are real, and I felt like I had actually met most of them by the end of the book. Their heartbreak was my heartbreak - their success was my happiness. To me, that's the mark of a great book.You know how everyone says, "I couldn't put it down"? Well, I couldn't put it down! What an AWESOME book!

Nelson never ceases to amaze me. Having known the author for nigh on 50 years I am intimate with the details of his and quite frankly our addictions. This is the real thing and only Nelson can tell the story that he tells. Clearly he has met his Demons face to face and has overcome. Hopefully the message that this book offers will help others to face theirs with the same results. A must read for those trying to understand and or coping with the hellishness of physical, psycological and emotional addiction. Excellent!!!!!!!

I love reading about intersting things that I'm not familiar with, but this book is THE best! It hit every emotion I have in my mind and body. Wow, what a read. What an education! Please read it, it literally blew my mind. I could not put it down. It's a short, hard, true look at addiction. This guy holds nothing back. Gonna read it again because I fell so deeply in love with some of these characters in the book that I need to visit them again. This is a keeper and I'm not even lending it out! And that is rare.
