MessermeisterMeridian Elite 5” Scalloped Utility Knife - Fine German Steel Alloy Blade - Rust Resistant & Easy to Maintain

I purchased this to replace a Henkel International scalloped utility knife that after 20 or so years the handle cracked (had been for a while) and missing pieces. I have to say there is a difference although the Henkel could have been worn or originally not as sharp as this is. I had stopped using the Henkel because it was missing those pieces and didn't cut well. I was looking for a knife to cut grape tomatoes and smaller fruit and veggies - this size fits the bill for me.It feels good in my hand, nicely finished, it is pretty well balanced and it seems very sharp. I have cut a corn muffin that would typically crumble and it didn't using this and it sliced through an apple pretty well.I want to mention that all the cutting scallops are on the bottom of this knife, the Henkel had scallops going to it's point - not a problem but I didn't notice that originally from the photo. Based on my experiences so far I think it is an excellent knife. If it holds it's edge and the handle doesn't break (we do throw them into the dishwasher) in a short time - all will be good.12/21/15 Edit - I want to say this is razor sharp - I barely grazed my thumb with the scalloped part and it took a piece off. I never had a knife this sharp before!

Great last knife to add to my knife block. Have been filling in empty slots in block for a few years. Great item for Christmas gifting to my husband the foodie.

Super-sharp; amazing for all small jobs. I also love Messermeister knives because they have small handles (compared to Wustof, etc.) which work well for my small hands!
