Midori Makes Good Stationery
Midori is one of my go-to brands for stationery, and this notebook doesn't disappoint. Paper holds up nicely to fountain pen inks (I tested with Pilot Murasaki-Shikibu as well as De Atramentis Brilliant Violet-Copper using a Pilot Parallel Pen) with no bleeding and only some show-through on aggressive, very wet writing pen/ink combos, but that's typical of almost all papers that aren't specifically for that kind of use case. For general-use types of paper like this, I'd say it's far above average and well suited to most typical writing tools.I write physical notes for raiding in Savage content in Final Fantasy XIV, and have struggled in the past with glancing at my notes during tough mechanics. I've balanced notebooks against blocks before to hold it up for viewing, but it's an inelegant solution and an imperfect one. This notebook fills that particular niche, as I can now prop up my notes so that they are easier to read, and it won't fall over. Besides from that, (admittedly) very niche scenario, I could see this being useful for shopping lists or to-do lists.Construction is nice and I imagine it'll hold up to most situations you might find a notebook in. The ring binding is sturdy enough that it won't bend under normal conditions, and the covers are a somewhat thick card that does a nice enough job of protecting your pages. Overall, I'd describe it as highly utilitarian and reasonably durable. If you're familiar with some of their other notebooks that use traditional binding methods, like the Midori MD, I would say this strikes a good balance between the paper quality and minimalism of those notebooks and the tougher build of something like a Maruman Mnemosyne.Overall I'd recommend this notebook. If you have a particular use case you think the stand will solve, this will do it while also being a pleasant writing experience. If the stand thing doesn't affect you, this is still just a nice notebook with an elastic band closure. Either way, you can't really go wrong. I got it on sale for around $11 USD and at 160 A5 pages, that alone makes it a very good value.

Stand Notebooks are great
Stand notebooks are great for either leaving on your desk right in front of you to use for any immediate notes or to write down reminders that you want to always be in front of you so you don't forget. Midori makes the best quality stand notebooks I've come across. They stand up really well, and Midori is known for their quality paper, so it's durable and is a great writing experience. I always keep one of these on my desk and another one in a bag for working on the go. They're my trusted go to's for things I need to write down immediately or things I don't want to forget so I write them down to revisit later.

Excellent with fountain pens
I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this notebook. The Midori paper stands up to even the wettest nibs, such as the 1.5mm stub I was using. Would definitely buy again.

Like the stand up feature, but paper is only strong enough for drawing.
I ordered this to take on vacation because of the stand-up feature. It does stand up and stay up. The paper is thin and not useful for any wet media. For me this is a drawback. Suitable for drawing, pencils....
