My favourite book in this series so far!
I don't know how I came across Matt Brolly, but I have devoured each of his books, with delight (although the themes are quite dire and horrible!). I love a good crime slash thriller and Matt Brolly really delivers.I had read this series in order after I read a book with DCI Lambert in and I have really enjoyed each one. They sometimes can be a bit long winded with twists and turns but I think my impatience is down to wanting to know 'who done it'. The stories have a combination of personal stories entwined with the case/ police stories and you get to feel like you know the individual characters.I love this book the most in the series as I really was stumped as to how it would unravel.I'm looking forward to the next one in the series and will probably look to read other series that he has written. Its always hard to say if someone else would like this series as books can be a real individual thing. It depends on what it is you're looking for. But to give an idea, I would say that other authors that I feel are along the same sort of lines/have similar style themes are Patricia Cornwall and Linda la Plant. I got the same kind of adrenaline rush when reading and felt like I couldn't put the book down. Every moment I have a spare 20 minutes or so to read, I'd be devouring the pages.
