Q: We are new to Snorkeling, Very new is this what we need to start out?

These should work well for beginners. Our pre-teen granddaughter and 17 yr old grandson had little trouble with mask leaks or water coming into the snorkel . Good value when on sale.

Q: does the mask fog up?

All masks will fog. To prevent fogging, dip the mask into the water before you put it on.

Q: Cab this mouthpeice be used with Braces?

Yes. My 16 year old son who has braces used his several time in Hawaii.

Q: What does semi dry mean?

It means that hardly any water can come down through the snorkel. A lot of snorkels don't have the valve system this one does and they will allow water to come back down through the top if you put your face too far down in the water or if a wave comes.
