In Caliente (Remastered)

One of Buzz Berkeley's lesser pictures, but ....
... a wonderful example of a pre-code musical. The girls in the musical number "Lady in Red" would be hard-pressed to be wearing more revealing gowns. And a young William Frawley, who later in his career played Fred Mertz on "I Love Lucy," has the biggest grin on his face following after Winifred Shaw as she slinks along and tempts the men, all dressed in formal wear, singing Lady in Red.Dolores Del Rio is so beautiful, but no one would mistake her for a great dancer. And Edward Everett Horton shows his usual comedic genius. The Caliente Hotel, site of all the fun, reminds me a lot of the Rosarito Beach Hotel down in Rosarito; makes me wonder if the story was sketched out by one or more of the screenwriters on a weekend bender across the border. If you're a fan of Warner Bros. depression-era musicals, like I am, you'll want to see this one --- it's a lot of fun. It's totally not up to the level of the earlier Gold Digger movies, Dames, or 42nd Street -- but it has a personality of its own so it is recommended!

Delores del Rio is a great Mexican American actress a must own film!
This was an awesome film when United States viewed Mexican Americans with mutual respect. Deloris del Rio was one of the most highly paid actress in the U.S. and Mexican Americans were not exaturated, minimized nor stereotyped on film. This is a must own and a must see film.

Nice jem
This was a gift for my mom, for the Casino where the film was filmed at, she remember it just as it was, for it was turned into a school. She does like the story, simple funny old B&W movie. I did enjoyed it :)

Classic 30's comedy
The story is funny and to see the only movie about the Caliente casino in Tijuana is very nice.

In Caliente
This was a nice little Busby Berkeley musical with Pat O'Brien and Edward Evert Horton south of the border trying to get away from gold digger Glenda Farrell. They don't make movies like this any more.

Buy if you're a fan of Delores Del Rio
This movie is an oldie but I enjoyed it. Delores Del Rio is so beautiful in it. Because of it's age it looks it but the remastering is pretty good.

Hooray for Busby!
A second-rate film, but "The lady in Red" remains one of the very best Busby Berkeley numbers. And Edward Everett Horton is superb, as is Dolores del Rio.
