They looked so sad and we needed a lantern so badly because (it started raining buckets throughout our trip and) all of our light sources had run dry. There's no solar charging when there is no sun and we packed few batteries thinking we would have the sun. We brought one at first just to try it and out of the box, it lit up brightly. It lasted throughout the night on the stored charge alone so we had to get the other one. These were great investments and the price was similar to what I am seeing on this site for about $30.The lamp can be charged by plugging it into a wall socket, car charger or sunlight. A little orange light tells you when you have enough sun to charge with. I'm a newbie emergency preparedness freak (After 9/11, Hurricane Sandy, witnessing the destruction of Katrina and now living in earthquake country, I want to be prepared.) My camp buddy and I each took one. I have one in my go bag and I am ordering one to keep in the home.The biggest surprise was how nice it was to do business with this company: Hybridlight. I either didn't notice and tossed out or the lamp didn't have the adapters in the beat up looking box. I emailed them telling them where I got the product and the circumstances thinking I would just buy the missing parts. To my surprise they were so kind as to send them to me free of charge!!!
