Greenworks 40V 8" Brushless Edger, 4.0Ah Battery and Charger Included

Love that this product uses same battery as my mower! No need to have another charger or battery taking up space. Assembly is very simple. It can get very heavy if used long time. If this is first trim of season on not maintain yard you may get worn out. It is not a push edger like past gas ones that have support. You are carrying the battery and it can get heavy. On second and third use it worked great and it works fast. This is a great product but use a muscle man for first go.

I ordered this edger after doing some research. When it arrived, I put it together and put it to use. It broke on the first use! I was bummed out. Called the company and they said they'd send a replacement part.. not sure which part they were thinking I would need since the whole thing rattled loose and pieces were flying off (I think it was missing quite a few screws?). The new piece arrived, didn't fix the problem so I returned it.The husband urged me not to buy the same brand again since we got a POS the first time. But I like to do my research and everything I read said to go with GreenWorks! So I gave it another try, buying the exact same model as the first time. And I'm so glad I did!It's easy to put together. It's a little heavy - may be difficult for someone a little older to use. But it works like a dream! Cuts through thick grass easily (I had previously used my sister's edger which is a different brand and 20v - it was much harder to cut through this edges.) Motor is quiet too, which is an added bonus!

Have used 3 times works very well. Easy to handle,powerful enough too.

I own several Greenworks tools and am very happy with all of them. The Greenworks 40v edger is perfect for keeping my lawn looking neat and clean. My old electric edger was always a challenge to use because of the long cord needed to keep it running. When it finally broke I really wasn't disappointed. I considered a gasoline option but was reluctant because I don't need it every time I cut the lawn. The battery powered unit is the best of both worlds. Offered at a reasonable price point, it is highly maneuverable with no cords to drag around but also no gasoline to store. It has a good weight to it, not too heavy but also doesn't have a cheap feel to it either. Is just the right length and super easy to put together. Because of its simplicity I find myself edging the lawn mower frequently and I actually enjoy using using this tool.

This is a great product run time is about 30 min. I have a 1/2 acre I trim and have never run out of battery power. Easy to use and does a spectacular job, makes my edging look like a yard work professional did the job.

Thnx to those that gave me advise on the harness for this trimmer. I bought a vest-like harness and it really helps me lots since I’m a petite senior.This is the best trimmer I’ve ever owned. Love the bump feed feature. I didn’t buy the pre strung spool and decided to try winding it myself. After the first time restringing, the second time was a breeze. Save your money and buy the big roll. I bought the Oregon brand 0.08 line.I have a 4v 2ah battery from my Greenworks pole saw. Battery lasted great with the pole saw but on this trimmer it only lasted 30 mins of trimming. I have to trim .5 acre hillside and it took quite a few recharges to finish the job, but I actually don’t mind because my arms get tired after about 30 mins anyway.My old trimmer was electric corded which I hated bc I didn’t like lugging around a long cord. Before that, my husband bought a gas power one and I hated that one too bc it was too heavy. I can handle this trimmer with ease and is easy to operate.

I have used a corded inexpensive edger for my home sidewalks and driveway for a few years. The challenge was running cords long enough to get to every place that needed edging.I did some research and decided on my first Greenworks purchase, instead of a gas edger. I now believe I was misled by the comments I read and wonder if they were actual customers.I just used my edger for the first time and it took me much longer to edge than I have taken even with my corded edger. First, every time it hits a little resistance, it stops and you have to stop...hold down the switch and start again. This happens nonstop!!!! It will not run more that thirty seconds to a minute before it quits again and I have to stop too restart.I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND BUYING THIS PRODUCT.To make matters worse, after using it 40 minutes I needed to stop to recharge the battery. Just 40 minutes!! When I put it on the charger, it wouldn't charge because it was too warm from being used. I had to wait 20-30 minutes for it to cool so I could charge it.I AM VERY UNHAPPY WITH THIS GREENWORKS EDGER AND WOULD LIKE TO RETURN IT ALONG WITH THE TWO EXTRA BLADES I BOUGHT. WORST AMAZON PURCHASE I HAVE EVER BOUGHT.

I’m not sure why Amazon is selling this item. I bought this and had to instantly return it because it was incompatible with any green works battery sold in Canada. I even called the company and asked if they sold an adapter and they said they didn’t. The only other option was to import a different type of 40V battery that the sell in the USA.I only wish I had read the other reviews here before buying since it seems like many other encountered the same problem.

Great looking tool, bought it “Used” from the Warehouse section for a great price, but it Did not fit my Greenworks 40 volt batteries. From what I can figure out, the USA has a different Greenworks 40v platform and my Canadian bought batteries do not fit it. This tool seems to be manufactured for the American market, I could spend a couple hundred bucks to buy the proper battery and charger, (GW Elite or G-Max I think) but that would negate any savings. Returned.

My own 40v batteries didn't fit. I talked directly with the greenworks people, this model is not sold in Canada on the greenworks website because it requires a different 40V battery, "GW Elite" batteries. Chances are, if you already own greenworks equipment, your batteries won't fit. You can buy the battery+charger separately combo but that defeats the purpose of buying tool-only, and you'll have multiple kinds of 40V batteries.

Tool did not work! Was shipped via "Seller King" in "as new". I returned it via Canada Post ($54 for shpg & insurance). Received partial refund ... $99.33 less than what I paid. Am left with approx $150 debt and no tool.
