HaywardGLX-CELL-15-W TurboCell Salt Chlorination Cell for In-Ground Pools up to 40,000 Gallons

Over the past 7 or 8 years I have replaced my cell twice. The first time it was through a local pool supplier and the cost was higher. While the cost of these cells is not inexpensive, having Amazon ship one to you quickly makes it a breeze. All you do is unscrew the old cell and unplug it from the controller. Plug in the new cell and screw it onto the pipes. Easy as can be.As far as working, it works great. Remember to reset the controller so the "Check Cell" light quits blinking. Hold in the "Diagnostic" button to reset. Sometimes I have had to hold in the button and turn the power switch to off and then on to get it to reset. After that you are ready to go.

I was a bit skeptical on buying a refurbished unit since there is really no way of knowing what you are truly getting. But my fears were calmed quite a bit after receiving it. Based on the appearance alone, I would not have been able to determine that this unit was not brand new. Fortunately, when I hooked it up to our pool, it performed exactly like a new one as well. It's been about 3 weeks, and only time will tell the true story, but for now, I am very pleased with my purchase.

The salt cell was just as described and the seller had it shipped out lightning fast!

UPDATE: This replacement cell lasted less than 1 year.Original Review: I used this to replace a Hayward T-Cell-5 on an AquaTrol AQ-TROL-RJ. Installation was super simple and I didn't need to reprogram my control panel. If I remember correctly, the old cell lasted a little more than three seasons. I run the pump continuously and have the cell producing chlorine at about 80% 12 hrs a day, so I know I put a heavy demand on the cell. Still, for the price, I wish it lasted longer. I have a 15K gal. above ground pool. Lots of hot weather and summer rain in our area. I would have purchased a higher capacity cell, but Hayward customer support told me that the Cell-5 is the only cell that works for my AQ-TROL-RJ. Don't forget that you will need to add CYA even with a salt system or your chlorine will just evaporate.

After a couple of weeks of use (I received it on May 4, 2018, and today is June 11, 2018) I found through testing the pool water that the generated chlorine level was somewhat low, about 2. After a couple more weeks, it was less than one. Took the cell in for testing today and it's not working at all. You can't deal with Amazon on something like this, I had to call Hayward and wait for 1/2 hour on the phone for assistance. Don't buy one of these from Amazon, spend the extra $50.00 and buy from a Hayward dealer because now I'm adding liquid chlorine to my water almost daily ( I live in Las Vegas where it's now 100+ degrees every day) until I find out what Hayward is going to do about this stupid cell. To say I'm just a little pissed-off is an understatement!
