Too small even 1/2 size larger
I saw others were saying the toe section ran small, so I ordered a 10.5 instead of 10 like I normally wear. Even that was too small--pinched my toes, but I also think the inside height is too small... I had to pull the laces way out to fit and then they just looked funny like I have fat feet (they are pretty average). The other thing is that the Castle Rock color is a much darker green than the pictures seem to show--it looks more like a really dark grey. I'm not going to get a bigger size because I really don't like how these feel--normally I love all Merrell's, and will certainly continue to buy them, but not this kind.

Great shoes - been wearing Merrell's for years now.
This is probably my 7th or 8th pair of Merrell's I've bought over the years and the 2nd pair this month. Bought these to even out color options for my 'wardrobe'. They're like most Merrell's - that is to say, excellent, IMO. The asymmetrical black rubber toe cover isn't for everyone - which is why I opted for a darker color. Like many Merrell's they have vibram outsoles so they offer decent grip even on wet surfaces. Buyers should be aware though that these are not asl grey as they appear in photos. To my eyes they're more olive green than grey, which fine by me. Merrell and Salomon are pretty much the only footwear I buy these days. The soles on the Merrell's however outwear the Salomons which evidently use a softer rubber compound.

Good Merrels, I wish they were still made in USA
These are the only shoes I use for work. They stopped making them for a bit and I was super bummed. They started again but they are being made in China and the quality suffers a bit. I’m on, probably, my 10th pair of Intercepts. I wish they were still made in the US but I’m such a fan of the build and fit I’ll never go back. I feel like they are way too expensive but I’m hooked so, dang it

VERY COMFORTABLE AND CASUAL FOR CLINICIAN
This is my 1st Pair of shoes from this Manufacturer, although; Over Priced at Brick & Mortar Stores in the past #20-Years!!I purchased these shoe for their Comfort & Support. I’m a Medical clinician, and I typically stand and walk On linoleum-covered-concrete for 8hrs/day.These shoes provided me with ZERO-Foot-Fatigue, as would occur with other shoes such as: ASIC’s, BROOKS, & Birkenstock’s.I HIGHLY Recommend these shoes for the above practical-wearing, vs specific-Trail-Shoes.

But half size to full size bigger for US buyers
I dislike that you have to play a guessing game to get the correct fitment. Make sure you buy a half-size to full-size bigger than your normal US sizing. Only reason it gets a 4.75 star!I have flat feet so I rolled the dice and got a full size bigger. The arch wasn't an issue on my flat feet, but the toe box was slightly too big. Not the shoes fault, I have weird feet requirements. The sole does feel alittle on the stiff side, but they also feel like I can trek across a tundra in them. These are built like tanks. I tried a memory foam insert but it was too much height added within the shoe itself, forcing the top of my foot into the tongue and laces.I also read in rhe comments that they didn't really have a perceived ventilation in summer months. Im glad I get to mostly use these in the winter. They do feel warm without being an advertised quality/selling point.Looks-wise, they are rugged as hell looking and are stylish for being an entry level lite-hiking shoe focused more on looks

Best Hiking Shoes Ever
Already at the second pair. These are the best hiking shoes. Did not expect to completely use the old ones and already bought a new pair - in the exact model. If Merrell continues to make them, my husband will never buy other hiking shoes. Ever.

size was correct for me
Oct. 2019 - ordered 1/2 size larger after reading reviews, but the shoe is too big. My guess is that people who are overweight, with a wide foot are saying the shoe is too tight. I"m 6 ft, 170 lb and fully expect this shoe to fit as expected at my normal size of 11. Unfortunately this needs to be returned.On-line businesses need to do a better job of addressing these types of issues. When a person writes a size complaint they need to give some details about their build. Otherwise the information is worthless!I ordered the black shoe and it definitely looks darker than what the picture shows. The top lining looked more blue in the image, but it look darker on the foot. Also these shoes have a higher arch than my previous band, don't think that will work for me.

Great shoe for long hours of walking on mixed terrain
I needed a new pair of walking shoes for an extended European vacation where we would be walking 4-10 miles daily. After researching comments and notes, I ordered a size 14 (I normally wear a 13) a month ahead of the trip. The 14s fit well and in only a week of casual wearing around my neighborhood, were extremely comfortable. In the three weeks we walked all over Italy, I was in these for 10-16 hours per day and my feet stayed comfortable and blister free. The shoes held up marvelously and I should get lots more wear with them. Purchase a size larger is a great recommendation, but these turned out to be fantastic for my needs

How the mighty have fallen
I bought these because the last pair I got lasted me ten years before they looked worn and twelve years in total. They were great shoes - warm, dry, durable, comfortable and looked good - and I felt good about not dumping worn out trainers in landfill every two or three years. This pair developed a split in the toe cap after almost exactly 1 year and I had hardly worn them outside. This year was warm and I had mostly preferred my cooler shoes. I tried to reach out to Merrell but they won't respond to me. So, 1 star it is. I had high hopes that these would last me 5 or more years, but they're almost useless after what probably amounts to three weeks of wear. Apparently they actually "don't make them like they used to."

Don't expect longevity from these shoes
It pains me to have to write a second review regarding Merrell shoes. I bought these through amazon in Nov 2019 and while I love the style and foot support of this shoe, it is troubling that the shoe disintegrated a little over a year (Mar 2020) after I purchased them. What is even more frustrating is that warranty is only 12 months. The shoes are not built to last for any meaningful time period. I did a bit outdoor walking in these over the recent weekend and when I looked at them in work this morning I noticed a considerable gash in the front side. Interestingly, the tear was in the same location where I had an issue with a previous pair of Merrells. I suppose I am the bigger fool for sticking with the brand. I work in an office so the extent of environmental challenges are quite limited bar the rare bit of outdoor walking. Come on Merrell, please raise your game!!

Made for slim feet
This is my second pair. Got them on Blank Friday sale for approx 60 Euro. I have a slim foot so these fit very well. Somebody else commented that these are slippy in wet conditions; I concur. I went ar*e over t*t once and slid a number of times on wet pavement after rain. That said, I gave them 5 stars cause I like the look and they fit like a glove. These are made for people with slim feet. I got size 46 (UK 11) and I am this size in Salomon and most other similar type shoes. I'm size 10 in a dress shoe. Hope the sizing info helps.

VERY TIGHT AND SMALER THAN EVEN NORMAL MELRRELL.
Purchased when on offer for around 30, the quality is superb really nice detail, fab soles. The fit, is well just horrid.I have had 30 plus pairs of Merrell’s over the years (ok a lot of years) so would say I’m in a position to make judgement.Vs other low rise Merrell’s the fit is just so small, I mean so tight..Couldn’t even get my foot in a standard uk size 11,normally the UK 11fit fine.If buying Male sure you can return, mine have been sent back.

Go up half a size for perfect fit.
Very comfy pair of hiking shoes. I would recommend going up half a size though. I'm usually a 12UK but went for a 12.5 and they were perfect.update: i have worn these four times on average hikes with average condition and they have a huge gash in the rubber - not caused by misuse.
