I’ll start by saying that my dog is a German Shepard + SharPei mix, about 75 pounds, she’s incredibly strong and is very high anxiety. She easily escaped from and destroyed the standard “heavy duty” wire cages. So, from the other reviews, this seemed like the perfect solution. The metal coating was chipping and slightly rusted when it was pulled out of the box which was a shame but didn’t bother us too much. This cage did hold up for quite a while… until my dog decided she wasn’t staying in the cage any more and escaped. She broke the latches on the outside of the door clean off. The parts that are screwed in to the frame stayed on but she managed to bend and break off the rest. We put new latches on the door and that seemed to work for a few days but then she started chewing the bars on the roof panel and ripped some of them out… escaping again. So I guess moral of the story is if your dog is determined not to stay in a cage and is crazy strong, look somewhere else because this is not sturdy enough.

Update (three months later): the latch that comes with has two tiny screws that we screwed or. The holes were not made correctly for those screws because they wiggled in and out. My dog has managed to three months later continuously pop that latch off by forcing the screws out. We had to go buy a welder to weld the latch onMy 60 lb lab mix likes to channel his inner barbarian and barge through all things in life, kennel included. My dog destroyed 3 kennels. We used zip ties to keep the doors and walls shut! It finally got to the point where I ordered a new kennel, put zip ties on everything and my dog popped the door open on the first day. Immediately decided to give this cage a try. This cage is Alcatraz. It is not meant to be move around a bunch, but the wheels are super useful. It is not meant to be space saving. But I would highly recommend this. Instead of taking seven years to put carabeeners on every corner and door, you just flip a small little latch. My only gripe is two things: the latch on ours was super loose due to manufacturing. My husband was able to screw it back it but my dog had made sure to let us know he can push it. The other thing is that the floor does not have a mat that goes across it. Some dogs like it; my dog did not like it. But, we just got a dollar plexi glass cut to size at Menards and called it good. If you have escape artists, save yourself the time it takes to Bear Grizzle your way into keeping them in and get this cage

This is an okay kennel. It’s pretty sturdy. However, when we got it out of the box to put it together, there were paint chips EVERYWHERE and it’s rusted inside and out. But that’s not what drives me nuts...at a closer look, I realized the manufacturer knew it was rusted so they PAINTED OVER IT!! This is a resold kennel that was supposed to be BRAND NEW. This is not brand new at all. And if it is, it’s been sitting out in the rain for quite some time. Nice quality control. 👌🏻

After contacting the Seller about a problem with the paint on my kennel, they were very helpful and got the issue corrected. We did have to share a few emails and they were very apologetic for missing my earlier email. The kennel is a great kennel for our large dog. He has much more room and the kennel looks nice in the house. Not like the other wire kennels out there.
