I would not consider it for that, You’d need something to create a vacuum to extend life of open wine and even then not much past a few days.

Is this decanter dishwasher-safe?

Yes, but I doubt it will get adequately cleaned given the shape. I suggest you get a decanter cleaning brush. You can find one on Amazon, which is where I got mine. I live it!
