Use Proglide With Shaving Oil
I had a beard for 37 years but shaved it off just before turning 60. I've been all around the shaving block in the past 10 mos and have spent alot of money trying tons of different shaving solutions for pre, during, and post shave and here's what I have come up with: Fusion Proglide Power cartridges, manual razor, Africa's Best Herbal Oil ($2 for 8oz at Walmart), keep the razor (cartridge side down) covered in mineral oil between shaves. If the blades seem to "tug" a little, just strop them on your wet arm in the shower about 10 or 15 times (i.e. opposite direction of shaving). This cartridge is AWESOME but expensive. The subscribe and save price is okay. But if you will keep the blades covered in mineral oil between shaves, they will last for months making them quite a bit cheaper PER SHAVE than old fashioned double-edge safety razor blades. The procedure I've settled on (after watching hours of youtube and reading lots of articles) is to clean them under high pressure hot water in the sink, both sides. Shake dry and spray with alcohol. Blow dry on hot, stick cartridge head down (handle up) in a container of mineral oil (enough to cover the cartridge). It actually does work. If you feel a tug of discomfort (I do about ever 10 shaves) then strop it against your arm about 15 times. The cartridge will go on and on when combined with the storing oil AND the shaving oil (Africa's Best Herbal). Shaving with oil and water and nothing else is the way to go. I typically use 4 drops for my face and neck. Then during the shave I let the water hit my face once in a while. I don't have a problem with stubble clogging the blades for two reasons: The mineral oil soak dislodges any left over stubble, and the Fusion cartridge is open from the back. So during the shower I allow the shower water to hit the back of the cartridge and combined with the oil it just pushes out stubble. I find I don't have to rinse very often during the shave. Also with oil and cartridge you can just keep shaving till you''re done. No 2nd pass or 3rd pass, no reapplying oil or anything. Just let the water hit your face a couple times during the shave. Just keep shaving till all is clean. Its SO NICE and SO FAST. Try it 3 times in a row and you may just get hooked! It is SO GOOD for your face. The only problem I had getting started was some shave oils are a little too thick and make the shaving quite slow and not so close. The Africa's Herbal Oil does NOT have this problem. It is the best oil I've found to shave with. AND SO CHEAP!! (King of Shaves Kinexium was my 2nd best oil I found. So close and so good for your face. Just WAY MORE expensive than Africa's Herbal Oil). Lastly I'll mention this because I'm trying to help someone: I discovered I have adult acne. I didnt know it when I had the beard but when I started shaving I discovered it. I thought I was going to have to use a safety razor and shaving soap bc that was much easier on the acne than this wonderful Proglide cartridge. Well once I realized this was acne and not razor bumps or razor rash, then I started treating my face for acne after each shave and now I can shave with any shaving regimen out there. That's why I happily went back to these awesome Proglide cartridges! So I shave in the shower (just spread some liquid soap on the mirror and wash it off. Your mirror will not fog up during that shower) and AFTER shaving I wash my face with Olay Foaming Face Wash (rub it between your hands before applying) and after my shower I wash it off. Then after drying my face I apply Dr. Song 2.5% benzoyl peroxide gel and let it dry (approx 10 min). Then I apply Fruit of the Earth (cheap at Walmart) 100% Aloe Vera gel. The shaving oil will leave your face quite well moisturized! But I add the aloe because it helps moisturize and is quite good for your face especially after shaving. I do hope this helps somebody.

Good price for quantity.
I've had this razor/blades for about 8 months. I like the way it shaves. I would highly recommend purchasing these blades on Amazon as they are cheaper than buying them in store. I don't recall the exact price of this set of refills but I want to say for this price, you'd only get like four refills at Walmart.

Great razors, wish they lasted longer.
I believe that gillette fusion razors are better than other available razors in its class. However, I am noticing a slight decrease in quality and longevity in these razors. I am not sure if they have changed something in the build, but they do not last as long (for me) as they used to. Im sure these will work great for everyone else, but I myself have thicker growth on my beard, and I tend to use these to shave my head occasionally. My use for these is heavy, bout twice a week. The blades I would buy from the store (Target, Walmart) used to have a blue lip, as seen in my photo. These, and now even in the stores, have an orange lip. I am not sure if there is any difference between the two, but I found that the old (blue) ones would last longer. I rely on these because my facial hair is thicker than the average user, but for the hefty price point I would like these to live up to their reputation of longevity. Also, when trying other razors, I always come back to these specifically because of the precision trimmer. I use it A LOT. However, they do get clogged fairly quickly, I hope these get better. Now that I talked about my frustrations with these, I will admit that these are still far better than most available razors of its class.

Best shave ever!
I have a heavy, thick, fast growing beard AND sensitive skin. A bad combination when it comes to shaving. I had been using the Mach 3 for at least 25 years and tended to view the 5 blade versions as a gimmick. I saw an ad one night, ok YouTube, and decided to give it a try. I ordered a handle with one blade from Amazon. I had skipped shaving for one day when I first tried the new razor. I was totally amazed at the result and the ease and speed! No doubt this give me the closest shave ever! I can get a similar shave with the Mach 3 but it takes a long time, much effort, and inevitable leaves me with some nicks and irritation. Been using that first blade for about a month and it's still doing a great job with zero nicks and no irritation. Wish I had switched sooner.

Best Razor Your Skin Has Ever Felt
I've been a long time fan of Gillette razor cartridges but always thought of the "Power" versions as a more expensive gimmick, and avoided them. Boy, was I wrong. I have sensitive, acne prone skin. Shaving is never something I look forward to - I do it because I have to. Nothing I've tried compares to the latest Fusion razor cartridges from Gillette. They provide the most comfortable, least skin aggravating shave I've ever experienced - and believe it or not, the Power fusion takes it up another notch. You might think that 5 blades in a cartridge is overkill, but I think this is one of the keys to getting a very close and comfortable shave. It prevents you from having to continually go over the same area. However, even with 5 blades, I still have to be somewhat careful, especially if I'm in a hurry. But that's not the case with the ProGlide Power cartridge. The vibrations in the handle literally cause the blade to glide over your skin in a way I've never experienced. Not that I'd recommend it, but I have no trouble with a "fast" shave against the grain with this razor - it's that good. It gives me a perfect shave with no irritation whatsoever. There is no tugging or pulling from the blades either - something I also attribute to the micropulses and the microcomb only found on the Gillette Fusion ProGlide Power. The lubrication strip will wear out before the razor needs to be replaced if you're careful about drying the blades after use. I find that the cartridge still outperforms any other razor, even without the lubrication strip and using a high quality shaving soap/cream/gel. The Gillette Fusion ProGlide Power cartridge is the end of razor burn for me. The price per cartridge can be a bit difficult to justify if you're buying only 4 at a time. If you're like me, you'll be sold on this razor the first time you shave with it - stock up at wholesale clubs or wait for a sale and coupon to buy in bulk - the Gillette Fusion ProGlide Power cartridges are worth every penny.

The best yet - Here's a suggestion for shaving routine, too
I shaved with a Mach 3 handle/blade for something like 10+ years. At some point I finally made the decision to make a leap to something new, and I researched a bit and decided on the Fusion Proglide Power over the Fusion. I went with the Power option, even though I was skeptical at first, but I figured if I didn't want it, I could simply not use it, and I'd have a manual razor. Well, a few years later, my skin and complexion have improved even further, and I get a killer smooth shave every single time. It really does guide the hair and the power function greatly reduces drag. I have a super thick beard (have since age 14); with proper shaving technique and this blade (I do use the Fusion Proglide *Power* blades), my face looks incredibly clear and feels smooth as a baby's butt. I used to have broken out skin pretty badly when I first started shaving; I since have developed a routine and constantly get compliments on my skin. Here's what I do: After the morning shower, I begin by splashing my face/beard with warm/hot water repeatedly, to soak and expand the hair. Then I APPLY Kiss My Face Fragrance Free Moisture Shave, 11-Ounce Pumps (Pack of 4) AGAINST the grain (this makes the hairs stand up a bit and easier to guide into the blade); swirl it all over the face to make the hair stand up. Then SHAVE WITH THE GRAIN, then across the grain at a 90 degree angle; in other words, you shave from the far side of your cheek towards your mouth, horizontally; this is a common technique used in barber shops, etc, that gives you the smoothness of shaving AGAINST the grain, without the irritation/bleeding involved in doing so (particularly if you have a thick beard; mine is so thick that if I were to shave directly against the grain I would nearly bleed to death). Then lightly towel off (don't wash off; this product has healthy oils that should be left in small quantities in the skin). to remove excess shaving cream and hair. Lastly, apply Tend Skin Refillable Roll-On System or Tend Skin The Skin Care Solution (I prefer the roll-on); this has been the single greatest lifesaver product for my neck in my life. I've used it, every day to other day, for the past 17 years, literally! Before this product, I tried EVERYTHING, including fancy ultra expensive products from the cosmetics department at a department store at the mall (a guy called out "do you have trouble with having irritation?!" and got my attention... sold me $100+ of stuff but the stuff was junk). Then I read about Tend Skin in a Men's Health magazine and my whole life changed; my sensitive skin + heavy beard = irritated neck problem was gone. This product is definitely the magic ingredient. That said, Fusion Proglide Power is a big part of the process, and in my experience, is the smoothest and least irritating razor I have used to date. I also find that the blades last longer than the Mach 3 blades did (they were truly pathetic); so I am spending less on them overall. The power function is completely worth it if you are wondering; DEFINITELY pay the few extra bucks and get it. If mine broke tomorrow I'd purchase it again.
