Excellent read

I purchased The First 21 on the same day that I finished The Dirt. Yes, I do realize that he wrote two other books first. ( reading out of published order was intentional. As a Motley Crue fan since elementary school there wasn't any question if I would would read His books or The Dirt but a matter of when I could as a full-time caregiver.Before reading The Dirt I'd only read one other rockstar autobiography years ago. Predominantly a reader of paranormal and fantasy fiction. It wasn't until the world events of 2020 ; that had me branching out into many other genres. The reason I bring this up: is because those same world events of 2020 Nikki himself touches on as it pertained to him and his family. It was a unexpected and interesting glimpse for me as a fan is all I will say about that. As not to go spoiling anything for anyone.Another thing I really liked that Nikki chose to do with this book. He didn't just rehash the same parts of his early life that were also a part of The Dirt. Stories are expanded on if they appear in both books, as well as stories that didn't appear at all in The Dirt. Leaving this reader to not only enjoy reading both books, it's my opinion that it was worth it to me to purchase both books.Would highly recommend to other fans .

One of the best books able Nikki’s life

This is a "Total Must Read!!"Nikki Sixx is not just a totally awesome musician but also an extremely talented author!! Not too mention still as "HOT" as ever!! :)

Having read many of NS books this was a must read for me. Having said that I just felt the book was too short.

Very interesting read about the life and times of one of the most well-known rock gods ever to live on the planet. I haven't finished it yet, but so far it is really engaging and delves into what drives Nikki's amazing, creative mind once he learned to channel all that energy into his music. One wonders if he had ever founded one of the most rocking bands on earth if it weren't for his scattered childhood, filled with insecurity and rarely a sense of belonging, invaded by feelings of abandonment that turned to rage and drug addiction. Kudos to this man who one day saw the light and decided to do the work to get clean. I don't know if this book explores that like Heroin Diaries does, but it does provide insight into his state of mind as he tried to cope with dysfunctional family problems that were not his fault. Rock on Nikki, you are an inspiration to millions who are trying to shed their demons and learn how to love themselves.
