deeply challenging,brilliantly refreshing
This book gave me a great insight into so much that I see in our churches today and I’m very grateful for its author and his understanding of our times. It is a book I will reread soon and keep sharing with my fellow leaders.

a diamond for our time
Mark Sayers hits the nail on the head for church leaders considering how changes in the way the world works are impacting us. Looking at the grey zone moment we are in he manages to pour cooling waters on the anxiety we may feel along with encouragement to move forward, following God wherever he may be leading us.

Cultural analysis to make you rethink the world we live in and the way we lead
Sayers masterfully brings together social, historical and anthropological analysis to examine the cultural moment we find ourselves within and to help leaders discover a way forward. An incredibly insightful read that was both thought provoking, informative and left readers with questions about posture and character as much as strategy for the future.

This Book Had a Huge Impact on Me!
This philosopher-author was able to drill down into the beliefs and philosophies of leaders, followers, and organizations. The analysis is spot-on biblically and should be influencing every church on this planet.

Understand The Times
Sayers is a very astute observer of culture and meta-trends. But he has that rare gift of being able to distill them into helpful guidance for leaders. This book is a very strong case study in our current moment (he labels this a grey zone) and how to lead when the goal posts keep shifting and your training isn't helping. I found it personally encouraging, professionally insightful and very useful for our team discussions.

Complex global Change meets simple, small changes
This is the first Mark Sayers book I have read but won’t be the last. Really appreciated the setup and bookends of the book and the encouragement to become adaptable and resilient in this confusing and anxiety-producing world. A good and understandable read that helps give a simple but profound overview of the social and historical changes that have been happening at break neck speed. Recommended reading for all church leaders and spiritual directors. I wish he would have developed more practical means for adapting in the final chapters, but perhaps that will be in his next book. I feel relieved to know that what I did as a church leader when the pandemic hit was an important pivot for those in community and seemed to bear fruit, even if for only a short time. Highly recommend the book.

Best book for rising leaders in the church
Sayers analysis for culture, the church, and the movement of the Spirit in leaders is simply superb. Couldn’t recommend this book more to folks leading any sort of church, non-profit, or even business that has a heart to do good in their community from a spiritual viewpoint
