easy to use
Once you figure out the directions, it's easy to use and making the flower petals goes pretty quickly. Unique design! Recommend using doubled ordinary sewing thread (which might tangle) or a slightly thicker stronger thread for stitching the gathering threads. It's a little fiddly keeping them all on the same gathering thread as you get making the petals. But I like the result!

So fun!
I've ordered *several* of these kanzashi flower makers, so I'll be basically copy/pasting my reviews on them since I feel the same about all of theme.I got these to use with fabric ordered from spoonflower.com - and one thing to note is that all of these are VERY small, I'd say that your design needs to be micro levels of tiny in order to be noticeable on the petals. The large, however, is much larger than the small, and looks pretty nice with a small (not too busy) pattern on it.The patterns are all very straightforward to use, the holes are numbered, and if you take your time to gather the fabric nicely when you're pulling the thread, they're lovely!I made mine using cotton poplin fabric, but I also attempted some using a cotton with some stretch and a brocade fabric that also had some stretch. They come out best with the basic cotton poplin - very little fraying and the fabric folds very well. The fabrics with stretch, though, were much less cooperative, and want to fray WAY more while being worked with.I've also tried just hand-folding these, and it takes me significantly longer to do. Not to mention the results aren't nearly as uniform. But, I make flowers using these templates, glue them with E6000 to a small (about 1" diameter) circle of felt, cover a button in the same or a coordinating fabric (3/4" buttons work nicely with the small, 5/8" for x-small, and 1" for large), sew that in the middle after the glue is dried, and then attach the finished flower to a brooch, headband, or necklace. Using strong adhesives and a high-strength hand quilting thread, I've yet to have any of my crafts come apart! If you're thinking of picking these up, they're fairly cheap and fun to use. Generally, I prefer the 5 petal flowers to the 10, but you can mix petals for different looks as well.

I love it!
This makes the cutest pointed flower pedals. I used 6 pedals per flower then you need to shape the flower. I used this with a some yoyos and other flowers to make garland for Christmas.

Wasn't aware this only makes 1 petal of the flower
This only makes one petal of the total flower, so you are going to put some work into making a finished product. I planned to use these to put on Christmas gifts, but not sure if I have time now with just a month away from the Holidays. I may save these to use on other gifts later.

Love them.
I love this tool. I hate wasting fabric and my scrap pile is huge. I make all kinds of scrap busting projects but they still look like I'm being cheap. This was so easy to use and when you finish one petal you're excited to continue. My bags are going to get flowers on all of them.

makes a nice flower
This is easy to use and makes a nicely shaped flower. it is one of my favourite Kanzashi flower makers. I like the large size ones, as I find the small ones too difficult to use. Maybe it is the fabric, tho a 100% cotton is recommended, but the small ones never seem to turn out well. The large ones do not make a big flower, so don't think that your flower will be too big. The directions are good, and once you understand how to use these, you will be able to make quite a few flowers.

Works well, but uses way more fabric than I expected
I am working on a quilt that needs a little something 3-dimensional. Quilt pattern suggested yo-yos, so I decided to buy the Clover yo-yo maker. This item was suggested, and the flowers are adorable, so I thought it would add even more interest to my quilt. While a yo-yo takes one circle and turns it into a cute embellishment, this tool requires one square of fabric for every petal, so 5-6 squares to make a flower. They were trickier to form into proper petals than I expected, but ultimately I got them there. I don't like the raw edges that this flower has when it is done - the yo-yo is turned under to prevent fraying. Ultimately I like the tool and it does what it is supposed to, but I think I get just as much impact from a traditional yo-yo with much less fabric and effort. This tool also wastes thread. The final amount of thread to gather and tie the petals into a flower is minimal, but you need a significant amount of thread on the needle to do the very large basting stitches. I also struggled with the top basting stitch on every petal - thread just doesn't want to go into that slot. This will probably be one of those tools that sits in a drawer and rarely touched.
