Ledmark Heavyweight Cotton Canvas Outback Duffle Bag, Green, Giant 48" x 20"

This thing is huge, much bigger than I anticipated. I'm 5'8", 155 lbs. I climbed inside this bag and zipped it up! It's made of a medium heavy fabric and has a well made zipper. It's very lightweight and will hold a great deal of bulky equipment like sleeping bags, bulky jackets,etc., but is not water resistant. It's basically a giant heavy cloth duffel bag with handles and a shoulder strap. I'm very pleased with it, but wish I had gotten the next smaller size. It's just too big!

I would have loved to give this duffle the full 5 but can't. I was very pleased when it arrived. Real cotton, heavyweight canvas, great grips and straps, decent metal zipper and bound seams. Quality at last! Unfortunately, after only one trip to summer camp - not even filled to capacity - it tore at the end seam after one washing in a regular cycle. I air dried it for extra care but noticed as I packed my daughter for camp this summer, a six-inch area of the end seam had become unbound leaving a large hole in the duffle. There was no reinforced stitching under the binding and the canvas had frayed. I used a line of crazy clue to stop the fraying and stitched it back into the binding using heavy duty embroidery floss. This did the trick but I'm likely going to have to do more repairs down the road. Upon close inspection, it was clear that the manufacturer used too fine a thread to enclose the binding.This product would be greatly improved by heavier duty stitching - earning it an easy 5 stars.

Appearance wise, this seems like a wonderful bag. But appearances can be misleading. I should have trusted the review of the nice lady who warned that it has incredibly poor quality stitching. Bought the large, which is huge (and XL impossibly large), was very pleased with my purchase until I tried to use it. SEAMS CAME APART ON THE VERY FIRST FLIGHT! Was stuck having to buy gorilla tape to hold it together to get our gear home from vacation.At least the previous reviewer didn't have the problem for about a year. Mine suffered a four inch failure/hole on the very first use!This could be a great bag, but why do they use incredibly weak stitching? Can't be that terribly expensive to use even decent quality materials. It's sewed together with thread so weak that it wouldn't hold a shirt button. I so wanted to love this bag, but it is a piece of junk.

This falls short of five stars because the zipper is not "super tough". One of the contents of the bag fit snugly and offered only the slightest resistance until I repositioned it vertically and the zipper was damaged. The zipper still works but the teeth just not heavy "duty". They are lockable as advertized. Now, the positive: Now the reason I give it a wonderful four star rating: The bag arrived very quickly just in time for my camping trip. It was a great bag to put on top of my car to hold my gear. I choose my gear for comfort first and then it's lightweight and compactness. This isn't backpacking gear. It's car camping and the way I do it, it's a bit more glamorous thus glamping. My goal was to fit two REI 3.5 in camp beds, 1 Exped 10 camp bed, 2 helinox high cots, 1 helinox cot max, 4 large thermorest pillows, 1 synthetic double sleeping bag, 1 down sleeping bag and 2 pendleton blankets. Well, when everything was fitting in there with no problem at all, I started to get scared about how heavy it was getting for me to hoist on top of my car, so I put a compact picnic table in there and removed the two quilts. Plenty of room left in it to spare!!! I couldn't really picture the size in my head. I didn't want a bag this big...or did I???!!! Better too big than two small!

Not sure if it is just me, but the dimensions of the bag seem much larger than what the website specifies. The bag ended up being too large for my intended purposes. Quality is fine though.it says 48 inches long, but it feels as if it were actually about 68 inches long. I am talking about the "Giant" bag.I intended to use this for drum set hardware. It works, but there is a lot of room left and it makes carrying stuff kind of a pain because the bag does not retain shape once filled up with my stuff.I guess the point is that the only way this thing is gonna be 48 inches long is if you jam-pack the bag with stuff all the way up (vertically). If you don't plan on jam-packing it, consider getting one size smaller because the extra textile fabric that provides the circumference (or height) makes it feel a lot longer.

In Fresno California, the American Legion Post 509 with the assistance of the National Guard, post 350 US flags on lamp post for Memorial Day. This is done to honor our Veterans that gave their lives to our country. The flags are posted a week before Memorial Day, and taken down a week after Independence Day.So what does this have to do with the Ledmark Heavyweight duffel bag? Well last year the National Guard stored our flags in cardboard boxes that sit in a conex container. This led to some of the flags being damaged. Recently we purchased 4 of the duffels. We were very pleased with the quality. The zipper is very strong and all seems were well stitched. We were able to put 50 flags with their poles in one bag. We believe that this method of storage will protect out flags for many years. We ordered 3 more bags to day.
