Waterfowl Identification: The LeMaster Method

Great resource for waterfowlers
Great book. If the shooting slows down in the duck blind, many times my friends and I will take turns looking at this guide, brushing up on species we don’t see a lot. Excellent illustrations that really help with identifying waterfowl. My only wish is that this book were offered in something with a little heavier paper, possibly laminated or waterproof. The pages really take great care not to rip out in the field. At $5-8 though, it’s really cheap to order a new one after the old one wears out.Makes an EXCELLENT gift for a waterfowler, young or old.

Great identifier guide but poor construction of the book
This is a great little book to keep in your blind bag, but the durability is terrible. I blame the publisher and not the author of course. The pages are very thin and tear easily. The pages also tear away from the cheap plastic binding really easily as well. The information inside is great for beginner duck hunters and is a great way to accurately identify your daily bag. I recommend taking off the spiral binding and laminating the pages that you will use most. Then use a hole punch and a small key ring to keep them together. Again, the consumer should never have to do that, but the book itself if very useful for a waterfowler just starting out and definatley worth it.

Perfect size
The perfect size book to keep with on the hunt. Personally I would prefer if the pages where thicker and water proof. Overall a great book for hunters.

Good book
Whether an avid waterfowl hunter, a bird spotter, or just a novice outdoorsman, I think this book is very well put together and can be an asset to anyone interested in identifying waterfowl. The LeMaster Method seems well thought out and a sound method for identifying birds on the wing or on the water. My only complaint, as seems the case with many other reviewers, is the quality of the paper and binding. If this were designed to be used as a field guide it would stand to reason with me that the pages would be of a more sturdy card stock rather than the flimsy paper used, plus some sort of water-resistant coating. I didn't take off a star for the quality of the paper and binding because that does not take away the quality of the author's work. Hopefully the publisher has paid attention to the reviews, however, and produces a printing on better card stock for outdoor use.

Low quality
This book use to come with a good thick cover. Now the cover is the same as the pages. Want last long in the duck blind before pages tearing out. Overall, good I'd info for ducks.

Learning more even being experienced
Been an avid Waterfowler for many years and this little book has help with things I might not have notice in the past that I will the next time affield. My only wish is that it was in a heavy laminate to be able to take out to the marsh during hunting season. Great book !

Good little book.
Great little reference book I got for my hubby to throw in his duck hunting gear. Only complaint is that the paper is not going to be very water resistant so having it out on the field could get it ruined. We're going to take it in and get it laminated. Otherwise, great little booklet, perfect size for a stocking stuffer for your duck hunter.

Me encanto está guía.
The media could not be loaded. Una excelente guía para la identificación de patos, el papel es muy delgado pero de buena calidad, para poder llevarla a campo decidí laminarla (enmicarla), y con eso quedo súper funcional y a prueba de agua.

Very thorough
Very good little book, bought in error as it's mostly American fowl but a good number cross over to UK birds. Very thorough and very informative

A must have for identification!
Absolutely LOVE this book!!! I'm a waterfowl monitor in Alberta, Canada (Western Canada) I'll be using this everyday, very useful and informative. It has details that are very important for identification, which weren't available in other books I've bought ("Birds of Western Canada" by David M. Bird) however, they're perfect together for having the best results when identifying.Thank you!
