The bar used to hole the tie rod end needed a socket head screw to replace the thumb screw suppled. The guide rod wouldn't fit through the tie rod end. I turned it down using an electric drill and knife sharpener diamond grit plates. Polished it using corse and fine ScotchBright pads.After the Ruixin Pro was assembled a ten inch chefs knife was sharpened to a razor edge. Buy this upgrade it's worth installing.

I purchased this upgrade when I bought my knife sharpener. Fit great and mor accurate than old style.

---Edit---The locking screw to the vertical shaft does not lock very tightly at all. This permits the unit to wobble back and forth during operation. In addition the picture depicts a chamfer around the drill hole to the shaft, this is no present on my unit either. If the locking screw had more grip this would be a 4 star item.3 stars for being close but not exactly what I need.---Original Review---The shaft has to be precisely angled to go into the hole, so it's not undersized at all! Almost /r/perfectfit material. Some reviewers said they made have had to sand the shaft, but I didn't.The shaft tends to stick to the spherical ball bearing a bit. More specifically during a stroke, the shaft will pass through the ball bearing just fine, but touch the wall of the bearing holding the ball in place and cause some jerky motion. To solve this, use a bit of mineral oil to lubricate everything. It should be fine.

Far better than the plastic bearing these come with, solid and stable.

Maybe it was just this one but I doubt it. This so-called upgrade does nothing but binds, the ball bearing does not freely turn even after cleaning and oiling it has hard spots. The hole where the rod goes is 1/1000th narrower than the rod which makes it difficult to get in. Once you get it in with a little oil on the rod it glides smoothly right up until the metal dust from the friction gets slightly collected then you have to stop and clean it up and start over again.The plastic one that comes with the unit is 10 times better and more reliable then this thing. The outer brass ring on this upgrade is what the real binding problem is caused by. Unless you want to re-machine this I suggest you stick with the one that comes with the sharpener. Absolutely not worth the money in no way. Returned it.

This is a great improvement on the sharpener. I use mine quite a bit. Even on large Kukris with 9mm thick spines and long blades. This little device makes the process smoother with increased range of motion. I ordered the pack of diamond stones with it. Works great. I couldn't be happier with it. Enthusiastically recommend.
