am looking for a soft mint similiar to dinner mints; are these soft?

no, they are more like an Altoids type mint. they will melt in your mouth if you don't chew them, but not soft like a dinner mint

For about 10 to 30 seconds, yes. Then it fades to a sweetish (but still very minty) flavor. I adore these things but if you want something strong for an extended period of time, this isn't it.
