Dangerous Game [Blu-ray]

Lesser-known Abel Ferrara gem, also known as Snake Eyes, made and released after Bad Lieutenant. Madonna actually does a really good in this film, even though she badmouthed the movie fearing her acting being panned by critics. I love how James Russo basically shouts his way through the whole movie like he's singing a Moistboyz album. Dangerous Game is basically the west coast spiritual cousin of Bad Lt. It was hard for Ferrara to follow up Bad Lt. but in retrospect this is a pretty compelling movie. It's also a self-portrait of Ferrara's own selfdestructive ways at the time. Keitel as always delivers, but his performance is turned way down contrasted with Bad Lt. I've always loved the Werner Herzog "cameo" in this movie and how Ferrara doesn't dumb it down or explain, just puts it in at the perfect moment.

Well directed and engaging in depth look into filmmaking/directing and especially acting. It's a cult film with madonna about how reality seeps into and manipulates a film about a disintegrated yuppie couple. We see it being directed and shot, and what happens off camera. Its a tale about excess, morality and loyalty...perfectly and thoughtfully done by master director abel Ferrara (bad lieutenant). He is minor afraid of bad language, drugs and sex...there tools of excess and a misleading element to what extinguishes a relationship. Harvey keitel as the director and cheater and madonna as the actress living a life close to that of her character. James Russo is awesome as the self revelatory admits-thst-hes-human-all-too-human actor and fictional (?) Husband to madonna's character. It's not for everyone but to a film buff, madonna fan, ( her best acting role by far) and movie within a movie fan will dig this. Its unintentionally funny and devilishly dark. Its truth.

The movie's plot on the surface is the making of a movie, a movie whose characters are in crisis. In reality, I believe, 'Dangerous Game' wants to represent the chaos of excess, excess in pleasure and caprice, such that pleasure is no longer pleasing and caprice leads to destruction. The acting of Madonna is not terrible although at times she seems amateurish. Keitel is great, as he excels in the portrayal of a man in the throes of nihilism. But he is suffering because of his deep spiritualism. Franco is very good as well, as the arrogant and self-indulgent leading man. This is a dark film as its central preoccupation is spiritual crisis. This of course means that it is not for everyone but if you are attuned to the spiritual crisis of our time you might get a sense that the film captures it well.

This film may skirt perilously close to hysteria at times, and some are likely to dismiss it as pretentious, but Dangerous Game is a brave and (in my view) very sincere film about human power dynamics and (more pertinently) dysfunctional masculinity, a film that is perhaps more relevant today than ever –– Helas pour moi!

This is also a pretty good movie, a thrill ride, as Madonna starts to tell jokes at the beginning, then as she is thrown, into a film, that havrey is making, as her screen husband, is out of control, at the end of the film, Madonna is shot.

Not your typical Hollywood fare. Emotionally gripping and confronting, Dangerous Game cuts to the core of human nature and our search for answers and meaning. Abel Ferrara's exploration of our desires, fears, and failings rings painfully true. If it's difficult to watch then that's because it's not always easy to face the darker side of our souls.

In this movie Madonna proves she can really act. She delivers a sincere performance about an actress too embroiled in the characters she plays. Along with the legendary Harvey Keitel, the cast does an amazing job portraying the seedy underbelly of the film industry, using what appears to be old-school method acting.

Great movie!

Also ich hab mir diesen Film gekauft, weil ich zum einen Fan von Madonna bin, zum anderen ausgefalle und anspruchsvolle Filme mag. Außerdem habe ich einen Thriller erwartet. Das einzige, worin meine Erwartung erfüllt wurde, war Madonnas Schauspiel. Sie ist ja nicht gerade für ihr Talent auf diesem Gebiet bekannt, in diesem Film ist sie aber sehr gut! Das nutzt aber nichts, wenn der Film nicht überzeugt... Ich muss sagen ich war einfach froh, als er vorbei war! Weil ich den Film einfach langweilig fand, keine anständige Handlung da war, es überhaupt kein Thriller war und kaum eine Aussage zu erkennen war. Dass der Film billig gemacht wirkt, ist ein Stilmittel, wie bereits erwähnt wurde. Sieht man auch in den normalen Szenen. Aber insgesamt ist das alles wenig überzeugend. Daher von mir nur ein Stern!

Ich bin zufrieden mit dem Service und die Qualität von dem Disc.Vielen dank und es freut mich im Zukunft Geschäft zu tun.

I have given this product 3 stars because the movie is just o.k. The acting is good, but the way it is filmed puts you off the story line, as it jumps from thing to the next.
