Great songs on this cd by a classic duo

I have been a Captain and Tennille listener for over 25 years now dating back to 1975. I have attended many of their shows and have also held a special place in my heart for their music and philosphy. They are simply irresistable and likeable.I have always hoped that one day we may get their entire collection of music released on compact disc. Over the past 10 years most of their music has reemerged though mostly on Japanese imports of their A&M years. I hope that one day the "Make Your Move" and Keeping Our Love Warm" albums will be released on CD. Even if they were on one compact disc. These albums displayed a new attitude and different music style that the Captain & Tennille displayed during the 1970's. It reflected an adult oriented sound and most of this music still sounds current today.This collection captures the image and sound of the Captain & Tennille. I recommend this collection over the 1977 Greatest Hits collection which I feel was issued too soon into their career. The "Ultimate Collection contains some songs that are truly lost gems such as "Song of Joy", "I'm On My Way", "Love on A Shoestring" and "Keeping Our Love Warm".I give this a 5 star review because it is beautifully packaged although it contains a discrepancy regarding the song "Don't Forget Me" in the liner notes. This song was never released as a single. Ironically, the song still didn't make it into this collection. The song that should have been included was "This Is Not The First Time" that was written by Toni Tennille and issued as a single back in the fall of 1980. It was originally written for Cher as was several other songs on the "Keeping Our Love Warm" album. Toni remarked at the time that Cher turned down the song "This Is Not The First Time" because it wasn't "rock enough" If you ever have an opportunity to listen to this track you will definately hear a very rock oriented sound from the Captain and Tennille. I wish that this track was included because then it would have been completely "ultimate".A couple of my other favorite songs that never made it onto CD are: "Never Make A Move Too Soon", "Since I Fell For You" and "Your Good Thing (Is About to End)" The ultimate collection could have displayed one more track in honor of Daryl Dragon, which should have been "Song For My Father". It is perhaps his best solo work on the Captain and Tennille albums and unfortunately is another lost gem.Enjoy this collection and share it with some friends. It will bring back fond memories and great conversation. If you ever get the chance to see the Captain and Tennille/Toni Tennille live in concert make sure you see them. They are a class act!

I purchased this CD for myself as I was feeling nostalgic and wanted to hear good quality singing and remembered that her voice was clear and concise so decided to purchase. I was not disappointed and would recommend this CD to anyone who enjoys quality as well as quantity.

Really fun listening to Captain and Tennille because it takes me back to memories of that time when I used to listen to them. All of the favorites are on this CD.

What can I say? Candy Pop at its best! It's more sophisticated than Bubblegum because of Toni's smoky, soulful voice and the musicianship of both Toni & Darryl. I probably like Captain & Tennille mostly because they bring back a lot of childhood memories but as a music lover I have to say, there's really only one clunker in the bunch: Muskrat Love. And even that one I don't skip because I thought it was just adorable when I was little. You might want to skip it, though. ;) The reason to buy this, if you're not big on this kind of music, is to listen to her voice. I think Song of Joy is one of their best. The catchy Love Will Keep Us Together and Shop Around are on there, as well as a lot of other old favorites.

Neil Sedaka was one of my favourite artists when I was in high school and he wrote the signature song of Captain and Tenille, "Love Will Keep Us Together". This CD brings me hours of enjoyment when I just lay back and watch the world go by. both Captain and Tenille have beautiful voices and my favourite songs on this album include "I'm Gonna Touch You", "I Write the Songs", "Circles", "Do That To Me One More Time", "Angel Face" and duzzens more. if you enjoy the music of bands like the 5th Demention, Captain and Tanille are great as well. they also done a cover of "Happy Together", a Turtles song, and their cover isn't as good as the original. This CD was worth more trouble than I went through to get it. I'm really pleased that I've finally received this CD and I've played it non- stop from day one.

This is a treasure to have and to keep, especially for those of us who enjoyed, and lived as young people falling in love the 1970's and the 1980's.When I hear their music, I still remember those days of fantasies and great expectations, when we didn't need a computer to have fun, and yet, we could use an electric typewriter to do our papers in college. The memories of their music to me and I'm sure, to many others of my generation remind us of somebody we fell in love with, or may be a dear friend lost in time. Or sometime when we dind'n have to worry much about the burdens of life. Romantic music and clean music, something that seems lost in many of today's songs...This is what I have found in the music of Captain and Tennille.

I have been looking out for a CD containing all these hits. I bought their original greatest hits on vinyl. I just love listening to their mellow tones and beautiful songs. It has taken me back to carefree teenage years; what's to fault in that?

The dates of the reviews show how time has passed by...2001. Not much interest I guess. But the Captain and Tennile, were so big in the 1970's they got their own TV show. They were attached to the Beach Boys, married and then launched their career through A&M, similar to the Carpenters. I searched for this album, because I loved their soft, gentle style, and of course the piano keyboards of Daryl Dragon. (Similar to my love of the Carpenters). Unknown to me was that Tennile was a gifted song-writer and involved in theatre arts (Wickepidiea). There is also a close connection to Neil Sedaka, and many songs on this compilation are his. Toni has 6 of her own. The album is highlighted with mega hits "LOve will keep us Together", "I write These Songs", and "Do That to me One More Time." among others. They are still lovely romantic ballads. So enjoy the memories and cherish the great talent of this amazing musical family.
