Very sturdy backpack
Bought this as a replacement for a backpack I bought for my son before school started which experienced zipper failure on the very first day of school! Yes, he had it crammed full of binders, notebooks and paper, but that’s status quo for him since his locker isn’t conveniently located by his classrooms. So far, two months into the school year, this Eddie Bauer backpack is holding up well to his daily abuse. Would buy one again once this one begs for mercy.

Works great so far
I use it mainly for domestic travel as a carry on, so I can’t speak to it’s longevity, but it’s a perfect weekend bag with lots of storage and extra pockets. Sits up high so it keeps my shoulders and back quite comfortable even when at max capacity. Can’t imagine it doing too too well in the elements for long periods of time, but I’m not sure that’s what it was designed for (even though it may look the part). Good value, and worth the money.

Good quality and beautiful design
Good backpack. Very functional. Very well done. It has also a good capacity and case for laptop.

Two Stars
It's a cute bag but both of the straps broke within the first few months of having it.

Looks nice but not built to last
Teetering between 2 and 3 stars. I bought this 2.5 years ago and have wearing it every day since then, so I've definitely put it through its paces, but at this stage I'm looking for a new one ASAP because it's hanging on by a thread.Cons:As seen in the photos, the lower back part is peeling away (and it's not like this part has received extra wear and tear because it's just sitting against my lower back). The pocket on the inside has also torn off--the thread is pretty weak there. It's also very much not at all resistant to water; I recently got caught in a very brief rainstorm and it's pretty amazing how thoroughly everything inside the pack got soaked.Pros:The capacity is very nice, and I like how it's stacked vertically rather than pulling the weight back. It's really nice having two side pockets--one for a water bottle and one for an umbrella. And the sternum strap is a huge asset. So overall comfortable and looks nice (a stranger on the subway asked if I was going camping once, but I'm fine with that), but will fall apart within a few months if you actually use it every day.
