SIMPLETASTE Milk Frother Review: FINALLY. A danged clear ice maker/contraption that actually works, and works well! I've tried several of these over the years, with the seemingly-futile attempt of recreating those gorgeous clear cubes you'll find at awesome cocktail lounges. Spoiler: even the best ones have been barely clear, a hassle to make, a hassle to remove, and never the perfect shape. Or more often than not, just straight up cloudy/cracked. So yeah, this kit won't make cubes. That's a bummer, and my quest will continue... BUT... first attempt out of the box, with water straight from the tap (no heating/cooling/distilled/filtered), and I had quite clear perfect little spheres! Just pop it (easily) out of the silicone mold, knock off the "nibs" on both sides and you have a perfect sphere. Super cool! Since then, I've been trying different things, and the combination of heating+cooling filtered water does seem to improve the clarity, and you definitely need to figure out the timing of when to remove it (ideally when some of the water *under* the mold is still not fully frozen, depending on your water temp + freezer temp, but that's easy enough. All in all, this is a solid piece of kitchen gear, feels well-made (not cheap), and although only makes 2 spheres at a time, is super easy to use, with consistently good results. Now I'm gonna go see if they make a cube form (doubtful)... Review: I bought this on a whim not expecting super clear ice, but it turned out great on the first try. I used water from my Brita and got crystal clear ice.I haven't tried other types of water but it says you can use filtered, boiled & cooled, bottled or distilled. I was surprised how easy it was to pull the silicone mould out as it looked like it wasn't going to come out easily. Then I just had to knock off the ice on the outside of the mould which only took a whack against the sink. The white butter shell doesn't take up too much freezer space.

This works well. It’s a slow process, but easy enough to get totally clear ice - need to use boiling or very hot water that’s also been filtered to get totally clear ice. Can make 2 clear balls a day - so plan in advance if you’re having a party!

Doesn’t produce clear ice !

Love it. Works as claimed. I have boiled the water to 122f, but my well water is pure and I get clear spheres either way.
