Surmen Legacy Freshly Started Flightless Drosophila Hydei Fruit Fly Culture

These flies are very active. The mantis' really like them, but they jump far and fast, so they are hard to catch and contain. I put them in the freezer for about 3 minutes before I give them to the mantis'. That works pretty well. Also, there is a ton of larva in the base material, so I fed some of those to a sick mantis. That worked pretty well until he could eat the flies again. SECOND BATCH: Excellent condition, nice and fat flies for my growing mantis.

All the bugs were dead when it showed up

Probably the longest lasting batch of fruit flies. I’ve had. I’m not sure how they keep breathing. I’ve had it for sometime now and all the rest always crash, but I will say these things can fly. They are not flightless.

Rip off and waste of money. When it arrived it actually had ants inside. All the flies were dead at the bottom. And there were only maybe 15 fly bodies at best. Dont do it. Theres a reason its rated so low.

Came alive very happy

A mess. There is NOT enough filler to survive shipping. It's a nasty, runny mess. The flies are mostly drowned. Not a fresh start. Obvious by color. Will not be buying again. Even in the photo for the listing there is twice as much filler. Do better.

Arrived with a crumpled corner, and a few dead flies were mushed into the media. I assume this goes to rough shipping, but otherwise it works.

I order superworms and now fruit flies from them s seller and all their products are top notch. Excellent customer service and communication as well. Thank you for another great product!
