My 13 year old son saw a YouTube video about how to make a butterfly knife trainer out of popsicle sticks and some other found around the house objects. He and his dad made the faux knife and he really enjoyed playing with it-sort of as a fidget toy. Eventually after a couple weeks it broke and he was asking me to buy him a trainer online. I didn’t but for Easter I thought that would be a good present for him. I debated between a plastic carrot theme butterfly knife and this one. I figured he would like the skulls and design of this one better. I liked that it had a function other than just something to play around with. He likes it and it’s held up well.

Purchased for my 6-year-old son for Christmas 2023, as he's already threatened his sisters with the bread knife in the kitchen once, so there's no chance I'm getting him an actual knife. The previous year I gave him a pair of afro picks, but they've since been lost. I figured maybe he'd take better care of this comb, which can be used as a training Balisong although a real Balisong is totally illegal in Canada. Who knows how long he'll stay in Canada? Maybe he'll develop an entertaining skill, maybe his hair won't be an atrocious mess.He likes the skull motif, which I didn't know about when I bought it.
