Is the medium large enough for a person and a dog?

If it's just sitting with your dog then it will be fine. If lying down with your dog it depends on how big your dog really is. Medium size: 106''L x 55''W. Large size: 118''L x 78''W.

Does it protect from bugs and the outside?

This is not a bug protecting hammock.I can wrap myself up and provide pretty good protection but it will not prevent bugs.

Light, compact, good quality.

We love these hammocks. Lightweight and easy to carry - either in a backpack, saddle bag, or even keep it in the glove box. We really appreciated that this one came with straps and was still a great price. Material and stitching seems flexible and breathable yet durable. Makes a great addition to the campsite - or you could even throw a sleeping bag in it and camp exclusively out of the hammock!

Nice comfortable hammock big size

This is a really nice hammock! It looks great and is a really big size for 2 people to fit in it. Strong and durable with weight capacity of 2 people. Great value for the cost. Straps come with it nice for easy camping and great comfort!

Great hammock!

I love that this hammock comes with the straps. It was easy to hang up between trees or a tree and a post of a pavilion. My teenagers were able to hang them up themselves, and I felt like it was secure on the tree. They are comfortable and well used. The stuff sack us easy for storage, and it's small and easy to pack. Kids (and adults!) of all ages love hanging out in hammocks while camping. This is a great buy, it is fun, easy, and a great price!

Comfortable and slept in overnight!

These hammocks are genuinely impressive. They’re oversized, well-made, and feel very durable. Our children wanted a couple, and once I saw the quality for myself, I ended up getting one too. We wound up sleeping in them overnight. That went well.They’re incredibly comfortable — now we just need to slow down long enough to actually use them and enjoy the moment. I will update this review if anything changes!

great size for a teenager! perfect color and fits nicely into a bag. set up is a breeze and the rope is high quality. I would not recommend 2 adults in it.
