Love it. Use it daily. This phone holder is easy to install and seems strong enough to hold a variety of phones. It has a toggle switch on the back to allow for two different thicknessses of vent grids in order to give it a tight grip. At first I thought I’d used the best one as it seemed snug, but after about four days I noticed it was making its way loose. I just took it off, repositioned, and flipped the back switch to the other number for what seeemed to be an even tighter fit. No problem since. I can say I’d been looking at one of these for a long time and never really knew if I truly needed one. I’d gone back and forth and dismissed it saying “well, I don’t reeeeallly need it” as I don’t deliberately text or phone while driving.” BUT I do use GPS and being able to not look down on rare occasions has been wonderful. As it turned out I did do that even more than I realized. That alone has likely made me a safer driver. It has also curved any final remaining impulses to text, which were pretty much gone, as this device puts your phone very much in the open and locked away— and in front of my child—so now I 100% will not do it and haven’t done it since purchasing this, which is wonderful. The mount swivels easily and fluidly. I was worried about it blocking too much of the airflow or heating/cooling down the phone too much but haven’t noticed either of these issues. I don’t have a massive phone (you know, the kind that double as a full Kindle lol), but could see where if you have a higher vent and a giant phone where this would look silly and potentially be top heavy, as this device supports from the base as opposed from the midline. That said, if you have something prior to the XS Monster sizes, this will be perfect. The cord cutout keeps a nice gap for charging capabilities and aux cables if you still need access to those. The clamps adjust easily even around my Otterbox commuter case too. 10/10 recommend.

After much research into what kind of phone holder would work well in my car (Kia Optima 2012) I decided on the Beam Electronics version. My main considerations were how easy it would be to insert and remove my phone into and from the mount, and how firmly it would be held. Also, it would be an added plus to have it held in a convenient position/location on the front of my dash. This product hits all the marks excellently. It was super easy to install the little clamp onto the horizontal vent of my choosing. It holds the mount in place and I've only had to readjust it once or twice in the last 5+ months. Yes, it can move as your vents move, but it's clamped on pretty tightly. It may have started to work its way off a bit just from me adjusting the angle of the mount at times. The mount EASILY adjusts to my phone width (iphone 5 with Otterbox case), with just squeezing in the side holders with my hand. It releases the phone for removal, or to adjust for a larger phone, with the press of a button on the lower back side of the mount, very easy to reach. I've included a video clip of just how easily the button on the back of the mount works to release the phone and/or adjust for size. Yes, it holds my phone very securely with the adjustable sides that you can see in the photos. There is an open area at the lower edge of the mount that allows a charger to be plugged in while mounted. I am completely happy with this phone mount and would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for the same features that I was looking for in a mount. Take a look at how it clamps on to my vents and it would also work for vertical vents of this sort, as the mount can rotate to accommodate such vents. TWO THUMBS UP from me!

Disclaimer: I bought this product in July 2019 so cannot speak for the longevity as of yet. Overall this product is great and does what it's supposed to do, which is hold my phone somewhere I have good visual access to. The quality out of the box is excellent. The mounting is easy and the button at the back is excellent at extracting the phone. There are a few things that made me give 4 instead of 5 stars. And this is mostly personal opinion for the phone I use and these reasons may not apply to you and your phone. #1 is the size of the product. It is big and when mounted on the vent obstructs 60% of the air coming out of that vent. With my phone (pixel 2 XL) mounted, 85% of the vent is obstructed. During hot weather days when AC is really important, this is really a bummer because the vent where my phone is mounted becomes useless and it feels hot. Of course, the phone, right in front of the vent, is as cool as it gets. I have yet to try the mount in the winter time to see if the vent will cause my phone to overheat. #2 is the weight. The weight of the product give me assurance it's made of high quality material. Unfortunately, when mounted on the vent, it brings the vent downwards, especially with extra weight of the phone when mounted together. So if you like the vent blowing AC directly at the face like me in hot summer days, this is a minus. #3 is the holding power. When I first started using it, I didn't squeeze it all the way on the phone and my phone tilts forward. It still holds the phone but the position is precarious. My phone has the google assistant function on squeeze and every time I want to hold the phone as tight as possible, it will activate my phone's google assistant function. Canceling the function is not laborious, just annoying. So yes, the product holds the phone tight, if you squeeze hard enough, but it will trigger functions in some phones (namely, mine), which makes it a minor annoyance. Overall the product feels high quality and functionally sound, especially with the release button. The few reasons that took it down to 4 stars is mostly personal and may not apply to you and your phone.

I have had my Beam Electronics phone mount for a few weeks now; and, the verdict is.... I LOVE IT!! This is the best phone mount I have ever had. I travel a lot for business and the versatility, sturdiness and overall quality of this mount is amazing! It has survived being stuffed in multiple backpacks, laptop bags, purses and carry-on luggage that are all filled to the gills and the mount is still in perfect condition. In addition to TSA, it has also survived my clumsiness -- yes, it has been dropped a few times and is still sturdy as a rock. The versatility of this mount is unmatched. The adjustable width handles my personal IPhone VII and my Samsung Galaxy Note for business. Both phones fit like a glove within the device. Also, the grips that lock onto the vehicle vents are very sturdy. Once locked in place, the phone stays in the position you set it in -- no matter what type of vehicle you drive. I have used this mount in a compact Toyota, a midsized Acura and, me being from Texas, my beloved red Ford F-150 affectionately known as Kool-Aid --I digress. Please know all the vehicles I own or have rented have square shaped vents. However, given the locking mechanism of the device, I don't think round vents would be an issue – but, there is no guarantee about this until you try it – I’m simply giving my not so humble opinion. Nevertheless, I highly recommend this product and I plan on buying a couple more in the near future. The price is very reasonable given its quality and features. Plus, it's extremely easy to install and operate. This smartphone mount is one of the best car accessory investments you can make.

***Update: Last week, the pad on the side retainment mechanism fell off and will not reattach to the mount. The mount now does not hold my phone with the previous consistency. (Reference: Picture)*** Tested with a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 over the course of about 2-3 weeks. Mounted in the center horizontal air vent of a Chevy Malibu. Pros: 1. Exactly as advertised 2. Appealing, Functional, and Convenient Design Cons: 1. Durability The Beam Electronics Air Vent Mount replaces a previous air vent mount I had for my car. The Beam Electronics mount is a very functional and convenient non-electric system. When I get into my car, the process is as simple as placing my phone in the mount and closing the side retainment mechanism. When I am ready to get out of my car, I simply push the button on the back of the mount and my phone is free to be taken off the mount. Note: The side retainment mechanism moves at different speeds based on the temperature. It opens slowly in cold (40° F) temperatures and very fast in hot (90° F) temperatures. My device has never fallen off the mount and the mount has never fallen off the vent during the weeks that I have tried this device. I have not removed or readjusted the mount during any of those days and have driven on smooth and fairly rough roads (I have not been off-roading lately in my Chevy Malibu). In addition to being an impressive device, the customer service is exceptionally courteous. After receiving an email informing me of the 100% hassle free warranty and providing a digital copy of the instructions (which I did not read until after I messed up the assembly), I received another email from John at Beam Electronics. He offered me a free product to sample and keep. After taking a few precautionary measures to ensure this was not a scam, I followed the instructions, and a few days later, received the free sample product (which, for me, was another air vent mount, so that a family member could enjoy one also). In a way, this move by the company inspired me to write this review, since this is probably what is expected when you are given a free product to sample. I hope this review was helpful and informative for anyone looking for a car phone mount and considering the Air Vent Mount from Beam Electronics.

First a little background. I bought this to replace a window mounted suction holder, as I found out that having one of those could have lead to a distracted driving ticket. I saw the positive reviews on this, and gave it a shot. So I'm going to go through the different aspects of this mount and some of the pros and cons. Build: Honestly, aside from the cheap ones you'd find in a Dollar+ store, I have found the build quality of all these mounts are pretty similar. The plastic is solid and doesn't feel flimsy at all. The padding is actually the star, as the foam while not thick seems perfect for protecting your phone if you don't have a case. And the mounting clip seems very well built. Mounting: They have a switch that allows for tighter and looser fitting depending on your vent. This product only works on vertical and horizontal vents, and I suspect that it would work better on horizontal vents. Once I put it on the top blade of my drivers side center console vent, I was set. It is very stable and very well positioned. In my Subaru, the only thing it blocks when my phone is mounted is the time. Without my phone nothing is blocked, aside from the vent. Phone holder and release: So this is where it gets interesting. Many other products on the market have a quick snap closed and open using springs. This uses a click lock which is manually engaged by the user. I actually prefer this, though it isn't as quick it is far more secure. The release however is not as quick as I expected. However it isn't particularly slow either. Perhaps it is because I'm used to the all in style of other mounts where it snaps to full open or full close around your phone, this is more gradual. However because of the design you perhaps don't want to have it open quicker because that would mean having to close it a further distance because of the click step locking mechanism they are employing. Directional maneuverability: This is as described. It is sufficiently 360 degrees, and I'm sure I could rotate it 90 degrees to have my phone horizontal if I should so desire, though I feel like the vent mounted work better as a vertical, while window mounted work better horizontal. There is a limit to how far down tilt I can go because of the vent and center console getting in the way, but that would also impede my ability to use the phone for directions anyway, so it is a moot point. Pros: - Far easier to access phone. Window mounted tend to be positioned a bit further away. - Not in direct sun. With window mounted, I was often unable to charge my phone because the sun made the battery too hot to actually charge it. Having it out of the sun is a big positive -More secure than spring activated button type mounts. - Having your AC on can potentially cool off an overheating phone Cons: -The main con is that the bottom cradle where the phone sits is immovable. For many modern phones and car entertainment systems this is a nonissue, however if you have a phone with a headphone jack next to the charging port and a car that needs an aux port to get music, this design effectively prevents you from using it. The only recourse would be to have it horizontal with the charging port and headphone jack facing the top, which some might find inconvenient. - It blocks a vent. Though as stated in pros, this can be a positive. However in winter months, you'd probably have to shut a vent down to prevent your phone from overheating from heat coming from the vent. So if your car is unable to turn a vent off, this might be a bigger issue. - The motion lock system seems a bit weak compared to other mounts. I haven't had any issues from it, but it is worth noting. Basically even when tightened all the way I can still move it, but not without a bit of effort. This is double edged, as I can still move it without loosing it, which is good, but it can potentially move without input over time should it ever loosen even the slightest. Overall this is a great car vent mount. The minor issues I have with it are really non-issues for me, as I have a Bluetooth system, and most cars today are either Bluetooth or use USB to connect for audio. If you don't you might want to consider that before buying. However if you use a dongle at the USB/Lightning port, it should be fine. I'd fully recommend this product. It is a solid mount and I don't see many points of failure at this time. Phone used is a Samsung Galaxy S8

I bought this car phone mount after getting burned by purchasing a very inferior car phone mount that took 6 weeks to arrive from China. I received my Beam car phone mount 4 days after the day I placed the order. This amounted to a 2 day Prime shipping that normally would cost me a premium. I paid for standard shipping. Upon receipt of the product I was not disappointed. The car phone mount was high quality with features that I needed. The mount rotated 360 degrees and was capable of pivoting from side to side for flexible viewing. It was designed to be used for vertical or horizontal vents. My vent was the less common vertical vent. The mount is designed for 2 thicknesses of vent louvers. Mounting of the device is very straightforward. I did have to move the mount around to find the optimum location. The phone mount seem to hold well to the vent after clamping it to the vent. I noticed that the phone would flop around from side to side due to the vent itself. However, I did find a location at the upper right end of the vent where the clamp of the mount impeded the louvers from moving from side to side. This was an unintended benefit that added stability to the phone. As a nice to have, It would be great if Beam Electronics could include a spacer that could be inserted at the end of the vent for stability. Since I’ve only had this product for a couple of weeks, I can’t vouch for the long term reliability of the product. However, I am 100 percent satisfied with the car phone mount and would recommend it.

I bought this for my 2015 Dodge Caravan as it has no built in GPS, and the old Garmin has seen better days. I sometimes use my iPhone 6's GPS, which meant having it in the cop holder and constantly looking down and unable to hear the directions. For $15, if it works, then I can purchase another for the 2016 Chevy Sonic we just bought for the kids to use (just started driving/working). The net result is 5 stars because I think it is a decent fit for purpose solution at a reasonable price, and I would recommend this to others. Assembly is easy, I disagree with the negative reviews on that; the ball and socket needs to be tight to stabilize. It's not like I had to use a 10lb sledge to push it together. It fits in the center vents good. I secured to the passenger vent (so it wouldn't block the driver's vent), and a bottom vane towards the side, just so it has the vent frame to add additional stability. I kept attaching and detaching, because it just never seemed secure, but it was. The gripping is actually tighter than you realize. The mechanism for attaching the phone is great, and simple, and no issues with the charging cord, or ear bud jack. I was a little worried it would detach from the vent, but after a couple weeks of doing nothing but taking the phone in and out (at least 4 times a day, 50 miles a day), it has remained in place. The best part, is having the phone GPS visible and audible! So far, it has been fit for purpose, and I will buy another for the Chevy. Pros: - Easy to assemble - Easy to attach and use - Phone cradle seems like it would work for a multitude of different phones - Slipping the phone in and out is easy - Hasn't detached in 2 weeks, over 50 miles a day, inserting and removing a phone at least 4 times a day, in a variety of road conditions (this includes a 340 mile round trip on a weekend), without any adjustment or re-attach to the vent Observations to note: - Blocks the vent it is attached, so shut it off (this is a "VENT MOUNT" after all) - You are limited to attaching where the vents are, your line of sight may vary, keep that in mind 8/5/2022 Update: Well, the "gripper" is starting to fail after 3 years. For something that is only about $10 I consider that pretty good for longevity. In reality, that equates to about 28 cents a month of usage. Not bad.

Extremely easy to set in the car, remove from the vent and adjust to the phone. Doesn't fall or produce weird noises due to vibration like my previous solution.

Very bad quality. Not good for iPhone. Doesn’t fit properly. Doesn’t have any strength. Replacement ordered but no update from seller. Stay away from such cheap products.
