Go ahead and get this...
I'd always hoped this would come out as 4k but when I saw this, I knew I had to have it. I've included pics of what you get and I will say that the menu bears hallmarks of the DVD cover release. Image quality and sound are excellent. Extras are limited to what appears to be a commentary with the screenwriter and the theatrical trailer. My only complaint is that despite being wrapped, the plastic on the case looks like it has been wet or warped. I may yet swap it out.

Timeless film, but showing its age in a societal context
I won't give away plot details, but will say that I enjoy rewatching this film almost as much as when I first saw it when it was released twenty-five years ago. The writing, directing and casting all contribute to making the storyline magical (in my opinion.) The subject here is spouses who use their marriages to climb socially and/or financially. That is relevant to this day. Even with plot changes the subject at a high level will remain relevant because it's people using a relationship to gain something, then dispose of the relationship.Personally, the acting is what keeps drawing me back to rewatch the movie. And the dynamics, of course. As an added bonus the cast of cameo characters, such as Ed Koch and Gloria Steinem, add familiarity to some scenes for folks in my generation who knew them as household names. Of course, there are more, but these two spring to mind because they were in a scene together. And the cast of supporting actors is mind boggling. I don't know what the budget of this film was, but when you add folks like Maggie Smith, Victor Garber, Marcia Gay Harden, Sarah Jessica Parker, J. K. Simmons (to name only a few), you just know that the budget was substantial. Of course twenty-five years ago some of those folks were not exactly household names, but supporting actors like Rob Reiner and Heather Locklear were. And all of the aforementioned, and the ones who I did not name added to the story telling in their own special ways using their distinctive talents. It would be easy to assume that this is a fluff piece that is predictable. It isn't. It is supposed to be a comedy, but it touches on some painful and dark aspects, and the arcs of some of the main characters ended in (to me) surprising ways.Still, it's foremost entertainment, and is a film that I thought highly enough of to replace my scratched copy with a brand new disc. Your mileage may vary.

Always a great movie
This movie was easy to download, and it was enjoyed by three women. It is always a great woman movie!

One of My Favorite Movies
I have loved this movie for years. It’s so emotional and shows how “first” wives are kind of mistreated. It also shows how much mental health support is needed, which was pretty groundbreaking when it came out and still isn’t something that is talked about enough or taken seriously enough.

A worthwhile watch
Interesting movie. True feelings and life situations about basically getting old and what some men do to their wives, go for a younger woman, and then the ex wife's rightfully feel entitled to payback, although most never achieve it on such great a scale as these ladies did. I guess the difference being that these were all rich people, one even a movie star so it's a little unreachable at times. And it's obviously the nineties because the daughter thought she had one over on her father by gleefully telling him she was gay, which is no biggie these days. I liked most of the actors in the movie though so it's a worthwhile watch!

Don't Get Mad, Get Everything!
This story of three middle aged NY wives, school pals who have lost touch and meet again at their sorority sister's funeral, all of them being left by their husbands for younger women, is really great fun. Diane Keaton is her usual insecure self, replete with domineering mother and self assured lesbian daughter, and Bette Midler is surprisingly endearing as frumpy middle aged mother and constant source of embarrassment to her teenage son, while Goldie Hawn is hilariously OTT as the filmstar living in total denial of her age. When these three ladies decide to take revenge on their unfaithful husbands, the fun starts for real. With a wealthy NY socialite (played by a scene stealing Maggie Smith) as their ally, they take drastic measures to inflict maximum damage on their spouses and send them into total financial ruin. The husbands are well cast (I particularly like Victor Garber as Hawn's alimony seeking husband) and played with far more restraint than the women in the piece which, strangely, works very well. Sarah Jessica Parker is rather fun as the young bimbo girlfriend of Midler's husband. She plays such an unlikable character that even those who don't usually much like her should have their fun with her performance in this.Oh yes, and then there is, of course, that cameo by Ivana Trump: "Ladies, rrrememberrr. Don't get mad, get everrrything!"The DVD is good. There are optional English subtitles for those who may need them. Also various other language ones and dubbed audio tracks in German and Hungarian. No extra features.

New USA Paramount blu-ray is definitely region A encoded!! 😫😫
5 star movie! Less than satisfactory blu-ray for us Brits! I bought a few of these USA Paramount Presents Collection on blu-ray & they turned out to be region free, The Greatest Show on Earth, The Court Jester etc however this copy of The First Wives Club is unfortunately, infuriatingly definitely region A locked so we can’t play it in the UK! Nor does it look like we’re going to get a region B release anytime soon! Why do they still region encode them if they don’t put them on sale here too?

Ďisappointed
I had been dying to watch this film after being bed ridden for 3 weeks, unfortunately the disc I got wasn't up to par, it kept jumping and missing scenes out, needless to say my popcorn went in the bin while I cried 😢

As Goldie'sh, Bette'sh & Keaton'sh as it gets !
One of the most witty satirical comedies one can come across, a classic for every DVD library, peppered with Goldie laughs, Bette ghusto and Diane intellectual charms. Three girls who once shared dreams about their future, having grown to mid-life Manhattanites with wealth but little happiness with their overbearing husbands, shake up their dusty feathers and take control. The result as unexpected and delicious, a happy ending for all three included. Not to be missed girls (and boys?) !
