It definitely works well, though it will only provide shine, and not necessarily maintain color. The pigmented polishes are excellent for reviving the color, and can make scratches or blemishes less noticeable. The renovateor is good, though is not natural and can actually have a negative effect on the original patina on the shoe, and certain polishes can actually be completely ruined by the renovateur, so please be very careful! Also, it is not the responsibility of shoe brands for third party product use, so be very careful as to what you use!

The real definition of "Cordovan" refers to the type of leather, which can be in many colors. When we in the U.S. use the term "Cordovan", generally, we a referring to a very dark red color, or Burgundy. An example of this color is what The Lincoln Shoe Polish Co. sells as Lincoln Stain Wax "Marine Cordovan"--U.S.M.C. approved for a high-gloss, carnauba wax, spit-shine and is a very deep Burgundy color. Saphir's Creme Polish would be #08 Bordeaux (Burgundy). Saphir #09 Mahogany is much lighter in color and has a more brownish hue. Saphir #10 Cognac is lighter yet and has a very light brown hue. These polishes, including Lincoln's Marine Cordovan Stain Wax are for regular calfskin leather shoes, not cordovan leathers. My best suggestion to you would be the Saphir #08 Burgundy. It is a very deep red with slight hints of purple. I think this is the color you want for regular calf leather. If you want a spit-shine, mirror finish, you'll need to put a top coat of high gloss Cordovan Stain Wax or Neutral Wax over the Saphir Creme Polish. Saphir Creme has the most pigment of any polishes available, but it does not polish to a glass finish, because of all the leather conditions it contains. I have 'wine shadow' color carlos santos; they look close to mahogany but that may be too brown, hermes red looks too red, any ideas?

buy both and mix... use the one on the browner parts and the other on the redder section... ask C. Santana what they recommend...or decide if you want your shoes browner or redder and use that color
