Q: Is this painted or is the metao coated with anything?

Yes. The stove and the galvanized pipe need a hot burn outside for a few hours to cook out any fumes.

Q: Can the elbow be placed any were on the pipes? So if i wanted run 1 strait pipe then elbow them strait pipes after that??

Yes. If you use the elbow, it will reduce air flow, but air flow will better if the elbow is placed higher.

Q: so, that pipe is tent safe huh?

I would not recommend this product. Mine was sent to me damaged, by the time I figured this out (when we were inspecting for my trip... we realized it was literally scrap metal from damage during shipment. So not sturdy at all.

Q: Can you buy more pipes and elbows for this stove?
