Comfortable socks that work at keeping ticks off
I only wear insect shield clothing when out birding & hiking. I prefer the permethrin-treated fabric to applying it myself so I don’t put my cats at risk. The packaging keeps the socks sealed until you are ready to start using them.

Must have for mosquito
Was heading to the North shore of Lake Superior and wanted to keep ticks and mosquitoes at bay. This was a second time I've purchased these socks And obviously they work well since I was purchasing another pair. Just make sure and read the washing instructions and they will last a long time.

Too hot for summer usage
I have been using these socks weekly for the last few weeks when I'm checking nesting boxes that require me to walk in fields with sometimes tall grasses (knee-high) & brush, so I normally end up with ticks attached to me.I have found the socks to be extremely hot to wear in 80's & 90's degree weather, especially because they are very tightly knit/dense/thick socks that are knee high. They do not allow you to perspire normally, & contributed to me having heat exhaustion on one of the days when the heat index was in the mid to high 90's.As far as their effectiveness goes - since it has only been 3 or 4 times so far that I've worn these socks, and since the fields had been mowed in most of the areas that I walked so they were no longer as tall as earlier in the season, I can't tell whether or not the socks made a difference. All I can say for sure is that the few times that I've worn the socks so far, I did not end up with any ticks attached to me.So, I rated them 4 stars to give them the benefit of the doubt, & have just assumed that they are working to repel the ticks. The socks' thickness does make the feet feel very well cushioned, so they probably would be great for hiking or working in brushy areas in colder weather.

Really works for ticks and chiggers
I've worn these 2 days, working in overgrown garden, walking through fields where I normally pick up about 1 tick a day and 5-10 chiggers bites. There was maybe one chigger bite (they show up hours after so though I got it the first night I wore them, it may have come from when I was inside and not wearing the socks) and no ticks or tick bites. I always get a lot of chiggers bites in the backyard and garden so even one is much improvement. Both of my kids picked up 1-3 ticks on the evening walks but I got none. One had on permethrin spray on her socks and shoes but still got a tick. Reading on their website, I found they did a study showing it's safer to wear the treated clothing vs spraying clothes each time. One thing I didn't like is these socks made my current bites itch pretty bad from the compression, but on their website I found some that look like they have thinner material so I bought 2 pairs for everyone in my family. I was surprised that they are a somewhat local business (based in Greensboro, NC but these socks are made in China).

Questionable effectiveness. Tick found walking on the sock.
Found a tick walking around on this sock when I came inside. Not sure how effective they are.

super comfy
I bought these for my hubby, and they fit him fine. he wore them and did not get any bugs on him while out doing yard work. he found them to be well fitting and comfortable. he wears a 10.5 shoe. the following week I borrowed them to do some yard work and didnt want to get bugs on me. i did not get any bugs , and i normally come in with a tick on me. they fit me just fine, and I wear a ladies 7.5 shoe. I found them comfy and stayed dry even tho it was a warm day and I was working a lot. so they seem to stretch well and fit more sizes. I thought they would be way too big on me but happy I could use them. now i have to get my own pair!
