Filling the water to the line causes water to spill when putting the top on, but if you put less water in, you will not get spheres. Solution: fill over the sink. Once frozen (less than the day they said -- that's a plus), it is hard to crack open; however the tray has the nifty rubber that you press on and the spheres pop out nicely. Love that aspect These smaller spheres melt very fast. Faster than a regular ice-cube. This is the only reason I am considering returning it to purchase a bigger size. My guests linger over drinks. But this mold is excellent for other uses (lemonaide balls, fruit balls, put in iced tea, etc.). Or for whisky guzzlers ... they won't notice how fast the ice melts (haha). Addendum: I tried several other maekrs and have decided to keep this little gem. I wish they made this product in the 2.5 size.
