As overpriced as GW products are in general, often you can find excellent deal in their base sets. Strictly from the perspective of getting four squads of marines in their OG, most iconic armor, terminators, an uber-landraider and a dreadnought, plus characters...this is an excellent value. Tie in the new ruleset and all the doo-dads that come in the box, and you can't go wrong with this. Something else that is convenient (though it's because of the time period of Horus Heresy, where chaos hasn't been melting DNA) is that unlike previous base sets, you don't have two factions in the box, often leaving you with a bunch of models you have little use for...you instead get vanilla models that can be painted up as different chapters, or all as one chapter. I can't think of many other instances where this could be the case, but I fully appreciate it. I haven't really looked at the rules yet except reading through the fluff, so I can't comment on how this differs from 40K (seriously, what version are they up to this week?). Summary: I started back in Rogue Trader days, where the beakies were space marines. To me, this is like a slice of warm apple pie and a cold cider, and I've held onto my OG models for longer than many GW players have been alive at this point. Finally having them get a high quality rework gives me the opportunity to retire the old blobby models and use them as veteran troops in 40k.

Probably the best box set GW have released with a great balance of new, old and some updated favourites. Had an absolute blast building this set, the instructions are incredibly clear and even my somewhat incompetent self made no errors thanks to that. The updated Contemptor Dreadnought miniature stuck out to me as it’s arms and legs are completely possible which makes it far easier to have it in various battle situations, standing on terrain (for the basing freaks out there) or even leaping through the air like a bloodthirsty, metal-clad frog. The Spartan Battle Tank was deceptively easy to put together and is really stable (have accidentally dropped it once or twice with no issue). The new Legion Praetors are also fantastic (the sword wielding one with the fantastic moustache being my favourite of the two), and the flowing capes and larger physical size compared to that of their legionary brethren make them stand out beautifully, and of course a lovely coat of pint would aid in this. Though please note that the standard legionaries have been updated in scale, which to new players to The Horus Heresy is fantastic as it makes the space marines appear as formidable as their novel-bound counterparts. However this may create quite a jarring difference between these newer marines and their older variants, with the new marines being about a head taller. The Praetors are laughably larger than the old minis, being around the size of primaris marines which could dwarf any older miniatures in your army to a laughable degree. Though I’d argue that the scale change was necessary, as the original tactical marines appear a tad stumpy and aren’t as well proportioned. I would 100% recommend this box set to anyone looking to commit to the hobby or massively expand their pre-existing collection.

La caja llegó un poco dañada, y había una pierna volando, da la sensación de que es de segunda mano. Pero viene completo hasta donde lo llevo

Contents came in pretty good condition, The paper separating the sprues from the book took a lot of punishment but it did it's job! The rule book came in near perfect condition. This was a really good deal with so many models and for a relatively good price especially compared to other sellers.
