Perfect for 4EAT Phase 2 (this was for a 2006 Forester XT, 220k miles on the OD)
TL;DR: works just as intended and IS the manufacturer of the Subaru HP variant. Idemitsu HP is the same. Its what Subaru recommends over Dexron since 2006 for these transmissions. To give a little background: My center lockup clutches (MPT if you know) were binding in turns which often happens in automatic Subarus when the oil gets old or dirty. It feels like a shutter when you make tight turns, and you can hear the tires binding up. Its 50/50 that or Duty C solenoid went bad. Need to fix it or risk burning the MPT clutch pack. One of the first things that should be done, even if the oil is dark, is to give it a change. The oil pan holds 5 quarts, the transmission itself holds a total of about 15.Subaru service bulletins state( in 2006) that after '06 they do not recommend Dexron, they recommend Subaru ATF-HP. This is that very same HP formula. Idemitsu makes the blue Subaru bottles of the same stuff but at about half the cost that Subaru sells their blue bottles at.Well, one change is all it took. One change and the MPT broke free within the first tight turn. The transmission never shifted or felt better. No more hard shifts, no more shift hesitation. No more solenoid buzz. no more " idk which gear to choose" syndrome. I will change it 2 more times after periods of about 500 miles to get all of the fluid new, just as many in the community recommends. If you see glitter in your old oil, time to get it rebuilt. I did not and its the only reason why i changed it even though it was dark and didn't re-add some of the old oil back( often done because that glitter is usually clutch material and without it, you will slip gears). No clutch material from any of the MPT or drive gear clutch packs in the oil and no broken teeth in the gears. If this oil change doesn't help with MPT bind, could be your Duty C solenoid but that usually throws a code and makes your ATF TEMP light blink 16 times when you start the car.If its Duty C, you will need more of these as you have to drop the pan and do a little work.

Original factory products, without the markup
This is the exact product called for in the factory service manual. Somehow, it was more economical than the off the shelf stuff in the stores.Worked perfectly and the car has never run better. No more burning smell, smoother shifts. Performance is what it's supposed to be.

Worked great for my 2011 Subaru Outback 3.6R 5EAT Automatic Transmission!
Worked great in my 2011 Subaru Outback 3.6R with the 5EAT Automatic Transmission, 180k miles, had to replace a faulty Turbine Speed Sensor, which required me to remove the transmission pan and valve body. I wound up needing roughly 8.5 quarts to refill it and get it back to level after this repair, I only ordered one gallon and regretted it, I should have ordered 2!

YES, it apparently IS SYNTHETIC
Since I couldn't find this anywhere, even on the bottle I bought, I googled it and found this:Yes, Idemitsu ATF Type HP Automatic Transmission Fluid is a fully synthetic fluid, according to customer reviews on Amazon.com. It is specifically formulated to meet the requirements of Subaru automatic transmissions, particularly those up to model year 2005 that specify SUBARU ATF HP. Idemitsu is the factory fill supplier for many Asian imports, and their ATF products are designed to match the specific friction materials and performance needs of each vehicle model.
